Selena sighed heavily as she looked around the streets of Gotham City. Each street sign and shop had a special place in her heart. Memories of her adoptive father ran through her mind as she slowly walked along the almost barren sidewalk. There were people ahead of her and behind her, but the space around her was empty. She didn't really have any friends so there was no laughter or talking near her; just complete and utter silence. One occasion a leaf skittered by along the concrete, but that was all that Selena heard. She had learned to tune out the many vehicles that zoomed, or snailed, past her on the street.
"Daddy, why'd you leave me all alone?" Selena muttered to no one as she walked along. A slow smile crept its way onto Selena's face as she walked by one of the many banks in Gotham City. She and her father had hit this bank up once and it was an amazing memory. Her first bank heist. It was a fun day that Selena remembered very well. The next bank down was the first time Selena was allowed to run the show, her father staying behind to make sure that if she made any mistakes, he'd be there to correct her, then or later.
Of course, minutes later Selena was pushed from her thoughts when she ran in to someone. She hadn't realized that there was a crosswalk and that there was a large group of people who were stopped since the crosswalk light held up the red-orange hand that told them to stop. Selena stumbled back a little and giggled somewhat. "Sorry, I didn't mean to run in to you," she apologized, though a part of her didn't really mean it. She just put on the act, like always, when she was in public.

Melody had been in Gotham for a little business. Not to mention she was looking at playing the Iceberg Lounge so she had an audition. But now she was just roaming the streets. Sure she seemed defenseless and unarmed but she was anything but. A mere whistle would call Shadow from, well the shadows and she could transform and easily defend herself. Although it didn't seem as if anything big would happen.
She walked down the street, tilting her stetson hat up a bit to help her vision before wrapping her duster around herself a bit tighter. As she walked she bumped into someone but smiled.
"No, I'm sorry. I was kind of lost in my thoughts."
She said, a hint of a southern accent in her voice as she apologized.
"I'm Melody."
She said quietly with a nod of her head and a slight smile but her eyes were never locked with her's. She was working on coming out of her shell but wasn't really helping at all.

Selena smiled at the young girl, looking her over with one swoop of her eyes. Yes, she was sizing the girl up, but it was instinctive. Selena always did that when she met new people. She was always sizing them up, seeing how easy or hard it would be to take them down without even thinking about it. Usually Selena studied everything about her opponent before she attacked and so far, Selena believed this girl to not even be close to a threat. Therefore, Selena would treat her like a normal human being...until the girl gave Selena a reason not to, anyway.
When the girl introduced herself, Selena smiled at her and held out her hand, proudly, for the girl to shake. "I'm Selena," she said before giggling. "And you don't have to apologize, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going," she said before looking at her once more. She noticed that she didn't make eye contact. "You're new here," she said, stating it more than asking it. Selena knew most of the people around Gotham. Well, she knew what they looked like and this girl. Well, let's just say a Cowgirl in the middle of Gotham City was not heard of.

Melody simply nodded her head and shook her head. She was slowly beginning to panic, she hated conversation with new people. She was stupid to think it was possible for her to make head way and make new friends. So far that didn't seem to be working and it was just going horrible, in her mind at least.
"No...just visiting..." She said quietly, running her hand through her hair as she stood awkwardly in front of Selena. Sure if she wasn't shy she could have a whole huge conversation about why she was there, how she liked it and so forth. Instead it was going more like an interrogation, with Melody only answering questions she was asked.

Selena noticed that the girl seemed to grow more and more uncomfortable as they spoke to one another, making her blink at the smaller female curiously. She wondered if it was her...strange, somewhat confident disposition making her that way. She sighed a bit and tried to think of what a normal person would do next before she giggled a little at Melody's response. "That would, generally, mean that you're new," she teased, though playfully. Selena was naturally playful and giddy; it was just the way that she had been since her adoption...well...unofficial adoption.
Normally Selena didn't try to be nice, but she felt that with this girl she would have to be, at least for the girl to calm down and not be so...intimidated, or at least that's what it looked like to her. She was quiet for a moment. "So, what're you doing here if you're visitin'? You got family?" She asked, shifting her weight from her right foot to her left foot. One of her hands rested gently on her hip while the other rested against her side. This position was always the most comfortable for Selena, other than her usual stance with her arms folded over her chest.

"I suppose so...."
She said nodding her head. She'd been working with the other Titans to make sure she was more outgoing. Sure when she was Ghostrider she had no problem. She enjoyed speaking to people. Of course she would be mostly speaking to criminals and the like, but not always. As Selena asked another question she had to think about it. But then opted to answer honestly, even if it might sound kinda of boring.
"I'm a musician and I was checking out some of the clubs seeing what they offered for live music. So far I haven't gotten much in the way of offers."
She said shrugging. She hated that most either didn't take her seriously or wouldn't offer her anything as a serious musician. Sure she could get all slutted up and then find work but she wouldn't sell out like that.

Selena raised her eyebrow at the girl and tilted her head to the side. She supposed? This girl hadn't been in Gotham for very long, that was for sure, but then again, that was how most of the people were nowadays. No one ever stayed in Gotham long since there was a chance that you could possibly run in to a villain, like Selena, though no one really knew that she was a villain. She usually worked alone, not really having any friends or allies. Sure, sometimes she would fight from afar with a hero or two, but it wasn't close up so they knew who was helping. Selena was brilliant with her knives and daggers and as such, she was an excellent marksman who would almost always hit her mark.
"You're a musician?" Selena asked curiously before nodding. "It doesn't sound like a...well paying job at the moment, but it could be fun once you find a place to play, am I right?" She asked, shifting her weight to her opposite foot once again. She looked up the young girl once again, but didn't do anything too badly. She wondered who in the world this young thing was and how an innocent looking girl like her would end up in Gotham City. This wasn't exactly a place for innocent people, not that it ever was after the downfall of Bruce Wayne's father back before Batman had ever entered the city.

"You are right."
She said nodding her head. Melody knew damn well the job wouldn't pay well at all. But she loved music and if she had to have a normal job, why not? Only problem was no one was interested in her.
"But it seems unless I'm a slut no one wants me to play their club."
She said shaking her head. She never understood why people were like that. It was a double standard that she didn't care for, not one bit. But she was stuck with it and soon enough she'd find a place that would like to have her play.
"So do you work Selena?"

Selena smiled at her and giggled a little when Melody said that she was right. She knew she was right and didn't have to be told, but she did like it when people told her. She felt better for some reason, she wasn't quite sure why. Perhaps it was a...confidence booster? Not that too many people thought that Selena needed a confidence boost. If anything, she was too cocky as it was. She knew that people thought she was too cocky, but she didn't really care. She never really did care what anyone thought about her...at least after The Joker got ahold of her anyway. Then, the only thing that mattered was his approval, which meant the world to her.
When Selena heard Melody's statement, she stuck out her tongue and made a face of disgust. "Ick! I'd rather get a real job and make an honest living instead of be a slut. They're disgusting," she voiced, not caring if she insulted anyone around her. Selena never liked them and probably never would. Of course, Melody's question stopped Selena's thought process. "I do have a...sort of profession, yes. I work independantly, top secret though, sorry," she said, not wanting to be pestered with questions about her occupation. She had enough of that as it was.

"Ah, top secret....fancy."
She said with a slight laugh. With Melody's 'other' profession she was used to that. Although saying top secret made Melody wonder if it was SHIELD she worked for or some other government group. Of course she was way off, to say the least. But Melody could be naive at times, a real problem to say the least.
"So, do you have any recommendations for where I should try and play?"
Selena seemed to be from Gotham so she'd know better than Melody would. She just wanted to get a job playing music. It seemed like all the other Titans had day jobs, so why not her? Then again none of them were musicians either.

A bright smile lit up Selena's face when Melody joked and laughed. "Ah! So you do laugh! Wonderful!" She teased lightly, jumping up and down somewhat, clapping her hands. People around looked at her oddly, but she didn't care, though she did notice that they were new people which meant the light for the crosswalk had changed once before, not that Selena minded. She had no plans for the day at all. Besides, if Selena wanted to walk the crosswalk, all she needed to do was go. She wasn't real worried about the whole "cars hitting her at 35 miles an hour thing.
When Melody asked if she had any recommendations for where to play, Selena put her index finger to her chin, thinking a moment. "Well, you could try to Iceberg Lounge, but it's more of a club like The Nest. Hmm...maybe approach someone independant... Like one of the Waynes? They usually have parties that one could play music at, I'd imagine." She said before shrugging her shoulders. There were no nice dinner places around Gotham City. "Or if you're feeling dangerous there is a little place that no one knows about at the end of Crime Alley that could use a musician. Of course, it's sort of hard to find, but if you want to give it a shot, I can tell you where it's at..."

"I actually already tried the Iceberg Lounge, but they said no. I was thinking about The Nest but have been debating. I mean if they react the same way Iceberg did I'm not sure I want to try."
She said with a shrug. She was almost debating giving up, but knew the Gotham/NY area was huge for clubs. Especially since most around Titan Tower weren't really interested in her, their loss.
"Crime Alley? I'll put that at the bottom of the list, no offense."
She said with a laugh and shake of the head. She knew about Crime Alley and wasn't interested. Even though she could easily defend herself. A quick transformation and the place would be in ruins. But she'd also be out of a job, so then she'd be screwed.
"Maybe I'll try and contact the Wayne's and other rich people, see what I can do."

Selena nodded when she said that she had tried the Iceberg Lounge. They weren't very...live musically inclined people. They liked a DJ and some CDs or whatever the kids were using these days. Live music was more for a coffee house or a small restaurant that has live music on Friday nights or whatever. Gotham City, though, was not that kind of place. Usually if there was music, it was a club or a bar, even, but that was it. They didn't have...coffee houses in Gotham City, sure there was a Starbucks here or there but nothing major. No one that played live music or allowed it to be played. There wasn't too much...happiness around Gotham City anymore. Of course, Selena had to ask herself," had there been any happiness to start with?"
A light laugh escaped Selena's lips when Melody said that she'd put Crime Alley at the bottom of her list and shrugged her shoulders. "Well as long as you're not a goody goody you should be okay, just letting you know if you ever do get to the bottom of your list," she teased with a smile before nodding when she said that she'd try to contact the Wayne's, which was a good idea in her opinion. "Good because they'll at least get your name out there, you know. Then other people will book you as well. Maybe JJ Grayson, even?" She asked, her smile teasing. Most women around Gotham City found the young Grayson to be quite attractive, not that Selena didn't. She did, but not to the point where she was about to jump into his arms when he would walk around a corner.

"Goody goody? Me? Hardly."
She said with a slight laugh. Of course that made no sense. After all she was the Ghostrider and the Spirit of Vengeance. Of course that wasn't commonly known knowledge and she wanted to keep it that way, for good. A hero's identity getting out would only cause more problems. It was a oath all heroes had sworn, never to reveal their true identities, and she stuck to it. Especially since people might figure out who her father was, even if she had no idea who he was.
"JJ? Perhaps. But I'd rather try crime alley first. Let's say JJ and I have an interesting history."
She said shaking her head. Sure she was aware of who he was. Being a Titan meant she knew who most heroes were and to ask him for a favor could be awkward.

A sly, but unnoticable smirk formed on Selena's lips when she heard that Melody was not a goody goody. She turned her smirk into a smile and laughed lighty as well. "Well that's good to know. You shouldn't be harmed in Crime Alley then, if you ever decide to go anyway," she said before shrugging her shoulders. She moved her hair over her shoulder nonchalantly before she put her hand on her hip once again and looked at Meloday. She grinned when she asked about JJ and then nodded. Most women knew who JJ was...of course...she began to wonder how she knew about him.
Selena's eyes widened. "You'd rather go to Crime Alley first? Ouch...apparently it's a very painful past...or dark one," she said, eyeing Melody strangely. She wouldn't ask about it, of course, but she'd try to find out. She would ask around Crime Alley when she had the chance, wanting to get some answers. Sure, it was none of her business, but Selena still wanted to know. It interested her. How could Melody know JJ? What kind of history could they have had to where Melody didn't even want to talk to JJ? These were questions that needed answers and Selena was going to get them either by her methods or her father's.
