A part of Selena wanted to snap, enraged at Melody's words towards "psychos like them." Selena was a psycho like them! She needed to calm herself down and quickly. She remained calm and shrugged her shoulders in response. "Those sorts of people intrigue me," she said simply, despite how that was definitely not the case at all. Of course, moments later Selena's anger was gone when Melody once more spoke of Nightwing being female. She laughed once more, loudly again, before calming herself down with another sigh. "That is very true, my dear, very true indeed. I do hope that he isn't a woman either. It would make it even more difficult to listen to girls swoon over him," she said, cackling once again at the hilarity of Nightwing being a woman. If she ever saw or fought him again, she'd need to point it out that someone thought he was a woman.
Selena heard Melody's words and shrugged her shoulders. To each their own, she supposed, as long as she didn't insult her father's psychosis, everything would be alright. "To be completely honest it depends on if you're talking about villains as a whole or just from Gotham. Either way, it depends on your preference, but I like a good creative villain and if there's anything The Joker was, it was creative. Now out of the rest of the villains? Deathstroke. He was indeed extremely interesting and hard to figure out. It's like he's a challenge for people who like psychos and like to analyze people." Selena's answer was biased on the Joker, but she spoke truthfully of Slade. He was a completely different man all together.

"I never saw the point in swooning like that. Especially over someone like Nightwing when there's little to no chance it could be anything more than a school girl crush. Seems like a waste of efforts to me. Not to mention some women go out hoping to get mugged so they can see him."
She said with a slight laugh. Sure some thought that part was an exaggeration but it was fact. Well at least fact according to Nightwing. And he could be a little egotistical from time to time. But unlike most ego-maniacs Melody had no problem with ego. When you looked like that and could back it up, more power to ya.
"I suppose Deathstroke was alright. But in terms of villains from Gotham Joker was...eh. I mean if you're talking about creativity there's still the Riddler or Two-Face. His riddles were practically impossible to figure out. And Two-Face's thing with the number two was even more tricky sometimes. I just think Joker got all the press cause he fought Batman the most. And at least Riddler and Two-Face didn't have annoying psycho ex-doctors hanging on them."
She said with a slight laugh. Joker wasn't a horrible looking guy, completely nuts sure, but not horrible. Surely he could've done better than Harley Quinn and her annoying voice.

Selena raised an eyebrow at her and shook her head. "I know. It's like some women don't have standards...or self esteem. I mean, if you have to go out of your way to get mugged for a guy, chances are it'll never work out," she said before giggling a little. She couldn't help herself. She found it amusing that some women, and girls, threw themselves at famous or infamous men. It was stupid and in Selena's mind, unwise. If the man is infamous, like most of the villains around here, they'll use you to get what they want and then move on. Sure, you'll be some villain's bitch for a while but then what? You'll be thrown in prison for being an accomplice. And for the famous man? If he's a hero, you could be hunted down and captured and used as bait by a villain. Would someone really want that? Selena didn't think a normal person would but then again...there weren't too many normal people in Gotham City anymore.
When she heard Melody's words, Selena shrugged her shoulders, trying hard to remain calm about the whole ordeal. "Yes there were riddles and the number two but The Joker had something else completely. Probably intelligence, at least in my opinion. I mean, the man could piece together a bomb like no one else. Makeshift weaponry? Like cake!" Selena's harsh laugh filled the air when Melody spoke of Harley Quinn. "Very true, Mel, very true. That woman was anything but easy on the ears, am I right? Especially in person," she shuddered. "I was near Gotham City National when they broke in once. I heard her voice and wished to carve my ears off of my face," she said, shaking her head. It was a lie, of course. Well...about her being near Gotham City National. She was actually there but she did very much hate Harley Quinn's voice. Selena swore that if she heard "Mista J!" one more time, she was going to kill children.

"Well, I suppose there's different forms of intelligence so it's hard to really determine who the smartest is."
She said with a shrug. The bait didn't seem to get much. But then again she wasn't anywhere near the detective Nightwing was. Hell for all she knew Nightwing would've seen enough to consider Pandora guilty. But Melody just saw a girl who had issues with the Joker. Sure she seemed a bit obsessed but that could be anything really, tough to figure out.
"Anyways, enough talk about nut jobs."
She contemplated going the route about talking about Joker's alleged daughter but that could be too problematic. She didn't want to be right and attacked, or be right and lose a potential friend.
"Have you ever though about leaving Gotham? I mean going somewhere a bit more sane and with a lower crime rate?"

Selena nodded in response to Melody's words, figuring that the young female wanted to drop the subject all together, not that Selena minded. She would much rather not talk about her father and that disgusting Harley Quinn. Or Two-Face or Riddler. Ha! Them, compete with her father? Yeah right. He was in a league all his own. No one could compete with him. Two-Face, Riddler, Penguin, none of them even came close to how amazing and psychotic he was. Which made him all the more evil and unpredictable than those men. Plus, her father was far more brilliant. After all, he did cause an uprising in Arkham Asylum and escaped, which not many people had ever done before. Selena was proud of her father for that and no one would ever change the way that she thought about him.
Selena twitched a little when Melody called the people they were talking about "nut jobs". That term always had a negative effect on her. She had been called that a few too many times in her life. A light sigh escaped her lips when Melody asked if she'd ever thought about leaving Gotham. Selena shook her head, not even having to think about it. "No. At...terrible as this place is and as horrific as it once was I could never leave her. Despite how my past is jagged and painful, I could never abandon the place where I first learned to...do what I do, so to speak," she said as she looked around, practically seeing her father everywhere around her. She hoped that she wasn't going to have another episode, she really didn't want to try and explain that to Melody, but her world was starting to spin and Selena had to lean against the brick wall beside her.

"Well to each their own I suppose."
She said with a shrug. She actually couldn't see why anyone, aside from JJ and the Waynes, wanted to live in Gotham. Them living there made sense since it had them closer to where they normally patrolled. But some people just didn't want to leave so she couldn't judge too much.
"So what is it you learned to do?"
She asked with a raised eyebrow. But then she saw her stop and lean against the wall. Melody stopped and stood by her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"Selena you alright?"
She asked just trying to make sure she wasn't sick or anything. Although if Melody knew the truth she'd be hauling Selena away right now. But part of her didn't want to believe that this first friend she'd made in Gotham couldn't be 100%.

Selena jumped and lashed out, pulling a dagger from her hip. She turned and swiftly held it up between her and Melody. "D-don't touch me!" She yelled. Selena was not seeing the young female she had been talking to moments earlier. Instead, she was talking to a nurse that she had met at Arkham Asylum. "Just d-don't! I don't n-need your help!" She exclaimed, fear and pain in her eyes. People on the sidewalk were beginning to look around. One man went to approach her and Selena turned towards him, seeing a doctor. She slashed her dagger in front of her. He jumped back and she didn't harm him. "None of you touch me! N-none of you! I don't need it!" She yelled. Once the man realized she was having a mental breakdown, he just turned and went on his way. Most of the townsfolk did, except those who were obviously interested in the girl before them. Some looked at her like a circus freak.
Selena looked around hurriedly before she leaned against the brick wall and slid down it. She looked at everyone, keeping her dagger gripped tight in her hand. Her eyes darted around and she just sat there, obviously freaking out. She saw herself in her cell in Arkham, huddled in a corner trying to keep away from the gaze of the nurses and doctors. She didn't want them to give her anything. Every time they did it only made things worse and she couldn't handle that. It also made her forget things and she didn't want to forget. She wanted to remember everything because it made her who she was. She hated it when the doctors and nurses injected her with "medication" anyway. She wasn't insane, or unstable, she was just mistreated. Well...in her eyes.

"It's ok Selena, it's me Melody."
She said trying to help her and calm her down. Then she noticed people beginning to gather around and that was actually beginning to piss Melody off too. Not to mention it was making things worse. Melody herself began to get angry, something that rarely happened.
"WHat are you all looking at!? Go away you heard her!"
She said beginning to shove people away. Most grumbled and mumbled but eventually walked away. When it was just the two of them left she looked at Selena and smiled.
"Selena, it's ok, they're gone."
She needed to snap her out of it, somehow. And there was only one way to do it that she could think of. She quickly stepped forward when Selena seemed distracted by her thoughts and batter the dagger arm to the side, naturally she had too good of a grip on it. She then swung her right hand at Selena aiming for a sharp slap to hopefully snap her out of it.

Selena heard Melody's words, but she wasn't about to listen. She stayed curled up next to the wall, eyes darting around frantically. She heard someone screaming and flinched instinctively. She couldn't help it. Anytime she was having one of her episodes and someone other than her screamed, she thought of her parents. Anytime someone tried to help her it was a nurse or doctor from Arkham Asylum. She couldn't help it. It was how her unstable mind processed things when such things like this happened. Of course, there were a few ways to knock her out of it. One way was throwing water in her face, another way was knocking her out, then there was letting her go through the episode and the last is the method that Melody chose to use. A sharp slap to the face was usually the quickest way because for a second, Selena would freak out if you splashed her with water, if she slept, she'd have nightmares, and if she continued to go through her episode, it could take any amount of time at all. But with a slap, Selena would be too stunned to react angrily or improperly.
When Selena felt Melody's slap, she just sat there. Her hand uncurled from the knife and it clattered onto the concrete sidewalk. She blinked confusedly and put a hand to her now stinging cheek. She looked around and then looked up at Melody. "What happened?" She asked, clearly confused as she grabbed her knife and stood up. She wobbled a bit and rested her hand on the brick wall behind her before sheathing her dagger. She didn't have a recollection of anything that had just happened. She just remembered walking along with Melody and all of a sudden she just...didn't know anything of what had happened. She looked at Melody and then noticed that there was hardly anyone on the street with them. "Oh dear..." Selena had never had one of her episodes in public...what was going on with her?

"It's alright Selena, c'mon."
She said beginning to walk with her and going down the street. She was practically carrying her, but that was easiest. She got the feeling Selena was a little too weak or exhausted from what had happened. She knew there was a chance cops would be coming and she didn't feel like getting booked. That would be awkward as hell. Especially since the easiest way out of that was to call JJ and she didn't want that held over her head.
"You alright?"
She asked her as she stopped, letting her lean against a trash can. Melody sighed and brushed her hair back behind her ear as she examined the girl. She still seemed a little shaken but hopefully she was fine. Melody let go and stepped back.
"So, wanna tell me what that was all about?"
Melody asked with a raised eyebrow, curious as to where this all was going and what had happened. Although she got the feeling Selena wasn't about to tell.

Selena was very drained. The poor girl had never gone through an episode in public like that before. She leaned against Melody as they walked along, the other female practically carrying her. She sighed and leaned against the trashcan that Melody leaned her against. She was extremely pale and in the next few seconds, had thrown the lid off of the metal can and had lost everything that she had eaten that day. This was normal for her. She usually got sick when her episodes were extreme enough to where someone had to smack her to get her out of it. She didn't understand why it happened, mostly because doing so, would get her sent back to Arkham Asylum, which she did not want to go in to in the slightest. She would rather die or surrender to Nightwing then go back to Arkham Asylum. Assuming, of course, that Nightwing didn't just throw her in there anyway.
Melody's question seemed to strike a chord with Selena as she drew her head from the trashcan. She wiped her mouth on a newspaper on the side of the street before throwing it away and shutting the lid of the trashcan. "That was called an episode, which most patient's at Arkham Asylum get after they've been let out. I'm mentally and emotionally unstable and resided in the asylum for almost three years before they finally released me, she told her with a completely straight, emotionless face. Selena didn't like telling people about her past at Arkham. No one ever understood and they just ran away. It wouldn't be long before Melody had gone off and run away as well, but Selena just shrugged it off. Another potential frenemy down the hole, oh well.

As Selena began to throw up Melody grabbed her hair, holding it back for her so she didn't vomit on it. She sighed and shook her head. But when it seemed as though she was done she let it go and backed up, smiling a bit as Selena turned to face her.
"Arkham huh? That's pretty serious."
She made a mental note to keep an eye on Selena and mark her for tracking. No doubt JJ would love to know about her running around his city, provided he didn't already know.
"Well....awkward situation..."
She said with an even more awkward laugh. Sure she was used to dealing with psychos and what not, but that was as Ghost Rider.
"Well are you feeling better? I mean now, not from the whole Arkham...but the...episode....sorry."
She said trailing off, feeling dumber as each second ticked by.

Selena nodded her head. "Yeah, but then again my past is pretty fucked up and when I was younger my mental state couldn't take it anymore sooooo I snapped." She shrugged her shoulders like it was no big deal and then paused. "It's very rare that I have any episodes out in public, usually I'm alone...which is for the best in my opinion," she said, turning somewhat pitiful. She was milking her mental illness for what it was worth. Sure, Melody was a sweet girl who was taking care of her and whatnot, but she didn't need to know everything about Selena. Talk about actually awkward, especially if she tried to run off to tell the authorities, then Selena would have to kill her and she didn't want to do that. The girl criminal actually liked her and didn't want to fight or kill her. That didn't mean, though, that Selena wouldn't use her. She would, but only if necessary.
Selena heard her awkward laugh and tilted her head to the side at Melody a moment before she giggled and then laughed. She then clasped her hand to her mouth and stifled her laughter. When Melody asked if she was feeling any better, she nodded in response to her question. "Yes, I'm fine. Thanks for not running off and leaving me, by the way...other people would have ran for the hills or called Arkham and I'd be locked up once again," she said, cringing somewhat before shaking her head. "Anyway, enough about...that. I don't particularly enjoy dwelling on my episodes or anything about them, especially after they just happen."

"I mean sure we just met and all but it didn't feel right abandoning someone, especially when they needed help."
She said with a shrug. Melody had always been sweet and caring. And that was the main problem with her. She cared too much even when it came to fighting criminals. Hence why she never used the Penance Stare, it just seemed wrong to punish someone like that. She's supposed to clean up the streets, not kill those doing wrong like some crazed vigilante...or Nightwing.
"Yes I agree. A new topic and a change of environment. C'mon let's get out of this alley."
She said with a smile and nod of her head before walking back towards the street. Before stepping out onto the street she looked left and right, making sure there weren't any cops. She didn't want to have to run with Selena and risk getting caught herself.
"All clear."
She said waving her up before stepping onto the sidewalk and continuing on her path.

Selena gazed at Melody a moment and then nodded her head, showing that she understood her. She wondered why Melody was so nice to someone that she had just met. Selena definitely wasn't that type of person and if it called for it, she would leave Melody in the dust. Selena wasn't one to sacrifice herself for anyone except her father and seeing how he was dead, there was no one that she'd risk her life for except herself...currently. There may be a time when Selena decided she could throw her life away for someone else's, but it wasn't now and so she didn't care. Selena was a lone wolf, a lone predator, who was looking for people to follow her. She wanted followers and goons who weren't stupid and moronic who would do what she asked of them, but alas, as her father had told her many a time.
When Melody said for them to get out of the alley, Selena nodded and followed after her. She watched as she skeptically looked from left to right before stepping out. Selena raised an eyebrow at her curiously before she followed after her, not bothering to look to see what in the world she was trying to look for. She didn't really care to be honest. "So! Where is it exactly that we are going, little miss?" Selena asked, jumping off of her feet and walking on her hands. She didn't care that they were on the side walk, or that her shirt was falling down awkwardly. Selena had never really cared what many people thought about her. It was the way she was thanks to daddy dearest.
