So pretty much the morning had been rough. Sugar was rushing to get to the store before her boyfriend woke up. He always slept in until twelve and would be absolutely enraged if she wasn't there and ready for him by then. It was eight now, and she had four hours to get to the store, get back, and get ready.
Dressed in a simple pair of jeans, a coral green sweater, and her blond hair tied back in a ponytail, she hadn't had time to really do much with herself. It was rare to see Sugar without so much as a dab of lipstick. Her face was fresh and not unlike how it had been in her youth.
Even though she was still young, she felt older than she was. Partly because she dated a man that was old enough to be her father and partly because of all she'd been through in the past couple of years.
The bell above the door jingled as she entered the little shop and snatched up a basket.

Tyler had been walking around the store for around ten minutes or so. The night wasn't that kind to him, what with getting intel from some junkies about the murder a few nights ago and then something about a new face making his way through the city's underworld. That and he had chosen to cover the Ms. Universe Pagent and decided to have a personal interview with Ms. Brazil.
This led him here seeing as he told the contestant that he would make her breakfast. "Damn international models." He thought aloud. He walked through the aisles until he sees someone. Tyler walked over to her and thought she looked vaguely familiar, at the least she was beautiful so he could go either way on this.
"Umm, excuse me." He said.

Sugar was trying to decide just how many eggs she would need for the week when someone approached her.
'Excuse me?'
Turning around, Sugar saw a handsome man with deep green eyes and dark hair. There was something familar about him and she pouted slightly in thought before her expression brightened and she grinned.
"Tyler? Oh my gosh Tyler Reid! Long time no see!" She turned around to face him completely, holding her basket infront of her with both hands. She couldn't believe how good he looked. Much better looking than she was sure she looked. "How have you been?"

Tyler saw the woman's face light up and his did as well, he couldn't believe who he was seeing.
"Tyler? Oh my gosh Tyler Reid! Long time no see!"
"I can't believe it, the sweetest person I've ver seen, Sugar right here in front of me. Get over here missy." He said walking over with one of his best smiles. 'God, even without make up she still takes my breath away.' he thought.
"How have you been?"
Tyler smiled and responed, "I've actually just moved into town recently, I'm working at the Sentinel now." He looked her up and down. "What about you? I hope no playing suzy housewife."

Sugar walked over to him, her arms open. Tyler had been her best friend for a while in her youth and seeing him the old feelings came rushing back, as well as the sour reminded that she didn't live in his world anymore Even so it was nice to see him.
Hugging him she listened to him tell her about what he was up to and she grinned. "That's fantastic!" She could see him being happy as a reporter or something like that. He was as creative as he was handsome.
"Well... not anymore." She said quickly. "My husband died in a car crash about a year back." She tried to look sad even though it was more guilt she felt. She shifted a little and the basket in her hands swayed from side to side. "But thing's are a lot better now."

"Thank you very much." He said as she congratualted him about working at the Sentinel; it was still strange for him. She then told him about her husband dying and he felt like punching himself in the stomach, "Oh, jeez." He said, "I'm sorry for bringing it up, my condolences."
He genuinely felt bad, especially after he already knew about hisdeath but found it also good since he still held a torch for Sugar. Of course telling her now wouldn't exactly be kosher seeing as she just told him she's married again.
"Oh, really?" He asked, "I have to meet him sometime."

Sugar looked surprised. "Him?!" The word caught in her throat. Had she said something she didn't intend to? How did he know? Wait, he didn't know. No one knew except a couple of no account thugs that wouldn't dare say anything... wouldn't they.
For a long moment she looked like the cat who swallowed the canary then her face softened and she said slowly.
"Maybe... sometime... he's a pretty great guy."

Tyler saw her surprise but saw how she played it off. "He better be, I wouldn't accept anything less." He said smiling. Tyler's phone began going off, thankfully it was on vibrate. He knew that the girl would be waiting but she would only wait so long.
"Well hey, are you doing anything later today?" He asked, "I'd love for us to be able to catch up." He said with his best please smile.

Sugar opened her mouth to say she's love to, but then she remembered she had someone waiting at home. "Actually, i'm booked today. But my mornings are usually free..."
She moved her hands to behind her back and looked up at him, hoping that he would say the same. She really cared about Tyler, she always had, and felt bad when they had their falling out. It would be nice to find out more about what he'd been up to...

Tyler was a little disappointed when she said she wouldn't be able to hang out with him today. But after she said about the mornings he was conflicted. He does go around at night with a robot trying to be the next Alcapone just with a penchant for green insects.
"Well I'm kind of up late at night now a days, but you call me and I promise you I'll be there as fast as a humming bird."

Sugar hesitated again but nodded, "O-okay." She smiled and looked to the eggs. "I need to pick up a few more things and head for home..." She wondered why it was he was there. If she remembered right he came from a rich family and the tacky little shop make him seem a little out of place.

Tyler hugged her tight, maybe a little too tight. He hoped she didn't think anything about it. He walked out and pulled out his phone and saw a text from Kato. 'Robots can text?' Tyler thought.
The brazilian woman left but said she'd be sure to find him at the competition. 'Note to self, send axford in my place.' He thought, 'Just tell him there's money laundering going on.'

After purchasing a few things, Sugar walks out into the street. It's starting to get busy and she looked at her watch. She'd make it back in time just barely. Maybe a shortcut was in order.
Turning right, she hurried down the street and walked/trotted for several blocks before turning down a sidealley.
"Sugar!" A gruff voice caught her attention and she whirled around. A large man in a black jacket followed her. She looked confused for a minute before she grinned and took on a thick southen accent.
"Well bless my soul! Big Max! How are ya? My sweetiepie will be happy to see you!"
"Shut up!" THe man grunted. He slapped the groceries out of her hands and his large body overshadowed her. "Your "sweetiepie" is dead meat! He and his guys left me for dead!"
Sugar began to tremble where she stood. "Now just hold on a minute sweetheart, you know he didn't mean to leave ya! I swear!"
The large man grabbed her arm and pushes her against the wall and she screamed out.
"I told you to shut up! You're gonna deliver a message for me. In fact, you dont have to say a word." He pulled out a knife, "The way I skin your pretty face will be message enough..."

Tyler got to the end of the block before he just realized he didn't really give Sugar a way to contact him. "Crap..." He said under his breath, "Better see if I can find her." With that he turned around and went back to the store.
Tyler made his way back only to see her go down an alley. 'Gotta love a girl who's industrious. Tyler said as he followed her only to hear the voice of a very pissed off guy. Tyler heard the threat and was confused, Sug, what have you gotten yourself into?' Tyler asked as the threat was issued. And a knife was mentioned. "Hey, woah buddy, that's a crime on two levels. Legally and well a crime against men in general." He said.

Sugar was terrified, she pressed herself back against the building and stared up at the man. She wished she'd thought to bring her own weapons with her, her gun or even her own knife would have atleast aided her, even though it was unlikely she'd get out of any tussle with this guy without a scratch.
No sooner had Big Max finished issuing his threat and leaned in did another nearby voice make both Sugar and Max turn to look at the alley entrance.
"Tyler!" She practically squeaked, both afraid for his safety and relieved to see him. She doubted there was much he could do against a thug like Max.
Big Max grunted, keeping Sugar pinned against the wall, "Beat it nancy boy! The lady and I have business here."
Sugar took advantage of the moment to kick her toe as hard as she could into the big mans shin. He howled and she ducked under his arm to take off towards Tyler only to get her arm grabbed and thrown in the opposite direction. She hit the ground hard not far from her grocery bags.
