Billy walked through the expansive building that was at the heart of Gotham City; Wayne Tower, he tugged at his blue tie he wore as he looked around and saw the way everything worked so differently than at Kord industries. Of course that was the reason he was here. And the blonde showing him to the Owner's office wasn't helping any.
The company needed some help, seeing as it needed to pull itself out of some dark holes and looking back on some records he found in the CEO's empty office, which really is his now but that's a grey area to cover later. He found that Wayne Enterprises has helped a number of times. Maybe they'd be willing to help again this time. Billy thought. "You are beginning to produce perspiration on your brow Marcus." Zoot now is not the time. Billy said, "I'm just pointing this out Marcus, a perspired brow does not help in business negotiations." How would you know? "I just finished watching "The Apprentice while we traveled." ...You can do that?
"Here we are sir." The blonde said before knocking at the door and entering. Billy strained his ears and heard the woman say he was here and waited for everything else. She walked back out and said, "Mr. Wayne will see you now Mr. Williams." He thanked her and gulped before walking in.

He had finished a rather boring board meeting twenty minutes ago and was using the peace and quiet to relax in his office. He knew he had another meeting coming up and wasn’t sure just what to make of it. He had heard of Marcus Williams, but never had the pleasure of meeting the man before. All that he knew was that he wanted to meet with him to discuss business, something that was common between Kord Industries and Wayne Enterprises. At least it was during the time of his father.
He had been standing at the large window that overlooked Gotham when his assistant, Charity, had told him that Marcus had arrived. Checking to make sure that he was ready for his visitor, Charity sent Marcus into his large and spacious office.
“Mister Williams,”[/b] he said with a bright smile as he turned to face the young man. Exuding confidence, Thomas walked over to the man with his arm outstretched. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. So what brings you all the way out to Gotham?”[/b]

Billy walked in and was silently in awe of Thomas's office. "Close your mouth Marcus." The scarab. Billy didn't say anything because well his mouth was open. He looked at the man at his window and made a pretty sound assumption that he was Thomas Wayne. “Mister Williams,” He said and immediately Billy thought that his father was right behind him.
"I think he was talking about you Marcus." ...I knew that. Billy said after a second. Billy saw the man outstretch his hand and outstretched his own. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. So what brings you all the way out to Gotham?”
"I can tell you it wasn't for the joy of travel." Billy said with a chuckle trying to give a firm handshake to the man. "I actually came by request of our current CEO." He said Trying to exude even a bit of confidence this guy was giving off.

He raised a brow when the man revealed why he had been meeting with him before turning away and heading over to the small bar on the other side of the room. He found it interesting why the mysterious CEO of Kord Industries was sending a young, nervous boy to meet with him.
Maybe they are in bigger trouble than what the papers say they are. But it’s surprising that the CEO wouldn’t at least call me himself to arrange a meeting. Why send the kid?[/I]
Stopping at the bar, he grabbed on of his glass, and popped in a couple ice cubes. “Care for a drink Mister Williams?”[/b] He asked as he turned over to the young man. “I have scotch, brandy, whisky, soda, and water.”[/b]
Reaching into the fridge, he grabbed a can of ginger ale, and snapped it open. Pouring it into the glass, Thomas couldn't help but feel like something was weird and out of place. Kord Industries and Wayne Enterprises were once very close. Kord Industries was even a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises at one point, until it became a front for intergang activities. Now it was back to being legit company, but yet something was still out of place.

Billy stayed there and thought he noticed something strange about his demeanor as he left for the bar.
“Care for a drink Mister Williams?” He heard Wayne say and without missing a beat as best he could he replied,
"Yes please Mr. Wayne." Billy replied.
“I have scotch, brandy, whisky, soda, and water.” Wayne said naming off his selection.
"Water would be great sir, I don't do well with alcohol." Billy said with a chuckle. Billy quickly took a look around the office "Just in case" he told himself.

Emptying the can into the glass, he threw the empty piece of tin into the small recycling bin beside the bar, and reached into the fridge to pull out a bottle of carbonated water. Taking it over the young man, he handed it to him with a bright smile before he headed back over to look over Gotham.
“So, down to business now shall we?”[/b] He asked with a grin as he took a drink and turned his attention back to Marcus. “What does the new CEO of Kord Industries wish to discuss with me? Kord Industries and Wayne Enterprises haven’t dealt with each other for years.”[/b]
He turned to fully face the young man as he slid his left hand into his pocket. His eyes looked over the young man to gauge him.
If Kord Industries sent this guy then he must be important, more important than some intern. No company sends an intern to speak with a CEO of another company. It’s just foolish and bad business. The kid is green though. No confidence. Extremely nervous. Either their CEO is testing the kid or testing me.[/i]

Billy took the bottle and this was probably the most confident thing he did at this point. Uncap and drink. Billy said to himself, "Marcus maybe you should-" I got this zoot...I think. Billy said interupting the scarab.
“So, down to business now shall we?”
"That sounds like an idea I can get with sir." Billy said with a confident smile.
“What does the new CEO of Kord Industries wish to discuss with me? Kord Industries and Wayne Enterprises haven’t dealt with each other for years.”
Billy nodded and pointed when he spoke of that. "That's very true, and from what I understand sir it was because the CEO's predecessor had used the company for gang activites. And that's what our Ceo is trying desperately to make sure it never happens again." Billy held out a flashdrive he had fished out of his pocket.
"You see sir, our company needs help and our CEO was in need of some assisstance and after finding Wayne Enterprises files he hoped you'd be willing to help our company." Billy said trying to sound like an earnest messenger boy instead of a CEO with no idea what's going on.

As he walked over to Marcus, he smiled as the man commented about Kord Industries trying to turn everything around. Reaching out, he took the flashdrive, and looked it over before strolling over to his large oak desk.
They say they are changing their rep, but I think I’ll wait until I see it before I believe it.[/I]
Sitting down at the desk, he set his glass on the table, and placed the flashdrive into his laptop. He wasn’t particularly sure how to take what Marcus was telling him about his reason for being there. Yes his father helped Kord Industries years ago, but that’s when Ted had run the company. Ted was a good man. An honest man. A hero who fought by his father’s side. He knew nothing of the current CEO.
“So either you are here asking for a handout or you are looking for us to fix your mistakes. Or is it both?”[/b] He asked as he looked up at the young man with a serious and stoic look on his face.
If the CEO of Kord Industries wanted a handout then he had best prove himself worthy of assistance from Wayne Enterprises.[/i]

I one looked close enough, they were sure to see Billy tense and stop breathing for the second Wayne came up to take the flash drive, and there Billy noticed how big a difference there was in the physique of the two. "Marcus, you're adrenaline is beginning to build up." I got this zoot. Billy said.
Billy just stood there as Wayne looked over the information, and was expecting any minute there would be something,
“So either you are here asking for a handout or you are looking for us to fix your mistakes. Or is it both?”
Billy took a deep sigh, there was something going on in his head and somehow came out his mouth. "Have you been to Hub City since the battle Mr. Wayne?" Billy said moving closer to Wayne's desk. "I'm certain in this city there's your share of pain, but in that city which has lost its symbol and had been the recipient of crimes against the people there's very little left. Kord industries is the city's last shot...it's last prayer." Emotion could be heard in Billy's voice. "The city is slowly getting back on its feet and that's because of Kord Industries, but the it cannot do it alone. So when you ask if the CEO is looking for a handout or looking for you to fix OUR mistakes I say neither sir." Billy locked eyes with Wayne.
"We're looking for redemtion sir, and we are asking for just someone to help us achieve redemption sir. Please." Billy's eyes never left Wayne's.
...Zoot, what did you do? "I'll take your thank you later Marcus."

“Nice speech for an intern,”[/b] he said as he continued to look at the man coldly.
Sitting there looking at the young man for a couple moments in silence, he finally lets out a small sigh, and stands up from behind his desk. He was impressed by Marcus’ passionate speech, although he certainly wasn’t going show it. Business was all about having a good poker face, and nobody had a better poker face than Thomas.
“I understand where your company is coming from. Years ago Gotham had suffered a massive Earthquake and almost never recovered. Our city had lost everything, but we still pulled through,”[/b] he said as he strolled over to his large window once more. “Look out over the city Mister Williams. This is a city that fought to regain it’s place as an American city, but we did it by own hand. We didn’t have any help and nor did we ask for it. But if you believe that Hub City isn’t strong enough, then I suppose I can look over your files and see if Wayne Enterprises can offer any assistance. Tell your mysterious CEO that he is lucky that Ted Kord and my father were good friends and business partners. Otherwise you’d be leaving empty handed Mister Williams.”[/b]
He came off colder and more uncaring than he wanted, but it still got the point across. He would help Kord Industries, but not because of Williams’ speech. No no. He had other ideas in mind.

“Nice speech for an intern,”
Billy tried so hard not to crack a smile. "I try my best sir." Imagine if he actually knew. "You will thank me later Marcus." Shut up zoot.
Billy stood there and listened to his speech about the strength of his city and he had to admit...was he saying he had no faith for Hub City? Billy walked over to the Window and looked out to the city. It was something, Hub City was no Gotham, and really he didn't want it to be.
Aside from the sore kicking Thomas gave Billy he still smiled as he spoke. "Thank you Mr. Wayne, Thank you very much." He said, "I'll be sure to tell Our CEO what you said...prehaps a little warmer though."

“I don’t care how you tell him Mister Williams,”[/b] he said as he turned his head to face the man. “I just care that he realize that I’m taking a big risk on Kord Industries right now without ever having met the CEO. Something that will change if he expects this relationship to grow,”[/b] he added as his emerald eyes seemed to peer into Marcus’ soul.
He doubted that he would be meeting the CEO anytime soon, but Thomas wasn’t about to invest too much into the company if the CEO wouldn’t give Thomas the courtesy of a personal meeting. In a way it was insulting, but it wasn’t anything Thomas was too concerned about it. And who knew, if Kord Industries proved to be an asset then he may have to look at reacquiring it under the Wayne Enterprises umbrella.
“So is there anything else I should know Mister Williams or will I find all the information I need on the flashdrive?”[/b]

“I don’t care how you tell Mister Williams,”
Billy visibly gulped at Wayne's voice. He tensed up slightly and was surprised at something. "Don't worry, I was able to keep you from making a mess." ...Thanks Zoot. Billy said.
“I just care that he realize that I’m taking a big on Kord Industries right now without ever having met the CEO. Something that will change if he expects this relationship to grow,”
Crap... Billy thought as he was reminded about that. Why couldn't I have some weird friends who are okay with lying to rich people? Billy asked himself, "Marcus...isn't that what you were doing?" Zoot...
“So is there anything else I should know Mister Williams or will I find all the information I need on the flashdrive?”
"Well there are a few military contracts we've scrounged which if you will look into we believe will be very beneficial." Billy said before turning to leave. "I'm sure our CEO will be in touch in due time sir." Billy said.

“Oh don’t worry about that Mister Williams. I’ll be keeping in touch myself, you can be sure of that,”[/b] he said as Marcus headed for the door. Taking a drink from his glass of ginger ale, he turned to his desk, and his laptop. The mention of military contracts had intrigued him. If Kord Industries was able to maintain a military contract, or even get one, then there was hope that the company could be saved after all. Taking a seat behind his desk, he set his glass down, and started sifting through the data on the flashdrive. Some of the data was useless, but several projects held some promise. He would have to pass it along to his R&D department and have them see if there was something there that could save Kord Industries and allow Wayne Enterprises to profit as well. In the meantime, it was time for him to return home, and suit up. Nightfall was coming and the Batman would be needed. **End of Thread**
