Douglas was in a taxi, alone, he did not like this, but Gaia had pretty much begged him to let her go shopping, since this was both their first time in California. After about half an hour of arguing he conceded to her, like he pretty much always did. He loved Gaia, and wanted to protect her, but she knew how to work him and get what she wanted, well, most of the time.
So there he was, in a taxi travelling to a school he did not know, other then what he father told him about it. He looked out of the window with squinted eyes; living in a forest for three years did not help his eyesight when it came to direct sunlight. He sighed as the taxi turned into the school. His father had given him enough money to get to the school, plus a little extra, he told him the extra money was to help him get by until he got a job.
When they stopped he paid the man and got out of the car. He wondered if he gave Gaia enough money to get here herself, he was sure he did, but would she be able to resist spending all of it, the girl did love to shop. Maybe he could speak with one of the people who worked here to get her picked up after a while. He did not want to seem like a moocher, but when it came to Gaia his dignity came second.
Looking around the school he smiled slightly, it was a nice place sure enough. He wondered if he would make any friends, he had a few back in Arkport, but maybe he would be able to act like himself and not get the piss taken out of him. He sighed one more time and grabbed his and Gaia’s stuff from the back. He guessed that this would be a good change for them.

A horse's neigh could be heard as well as the fast clopping of the hooves coming down the street. Those who lived near the school only glanced over as the fireball came towards the school. As it got closer it became evident it was Ghostrider, or at least the new version of the rider. She came to a stop in front of the school next to the taxi.
"You must be new."
She said in her deep and raspy, yet still feminine voice. She jumped off the horse which turned and ran off, disappearing into the shadow of a tree.
"C'mon, I'll show you around."

Douglas’ ears pricked up as he heard the sound of a horse coming, he had picked it up a bit before the others, mainly because of one of his powers. The closer it came the louder it was, so he struggled to control his hearing as the sound began to hurt his head. He loved his ability to hear things, but it could be a right pain when he didn’t keep control over it.
When the fiery rider came to a halt he saw the taxi driver panic and drive off. He rolled his eyes slightly before taking in the new being in front of him. He was actually a little wary, but he tried his best not to show it. When she spoke he could just about pick out the fact that she was a woman. He had never met anyone like her, well, that’s not a surprise, he came from a village in New York, where most things were cut off, in fact he had not heard of a mutant until he found out he was one.
He was not sure if she was a mutant, or some sort of super-being, but he would not ask such question. The reason why he would not, if he did it may make him sound stupid, and he would rather not let that happen. When she said she would show him around he nodded and followed her. He looked around and now and again would look at the woman. He wondered who she was, so instead of asking the question he introduced himself,
“I’m Douglas Saint Jnr.”
Some people may have heard of his father considering he was once a member of The X-Men when his father was younger. It was one of the things he found out about his father once his father found out Douglas and Gaia was bother mutants. Douglas asked him about his mother, but that just brought silence.

Once inside the gates she depowered. She shrank a a bit and filled out her clothes much better than a skeleton.
"Well Douglas my name is Melody. Most just know me as Ghostrider."
She said with a slight smile. She adjusted her hat a bit as they walked. She had no idea why she'd volunteered to show him around. Although she did always feel comfortable here at Xavier's just as she did at the Tower. Plus she knew what it was like to be new and could understand just how awkward that felt.
"So what can you do?"
She asked curiously as they walked around the very well maintained lawn.

Douglas nodded and extended a hand. He had always been one for formalities, guess it was because of his father. His father was a rather old fashioned kind of guy; even though he was light hearted and kind of a goof ball at times. He loved his dad and had always respected him, even before he knew what he was. When she introduced herself both her name and alias he thought it would be good to do the same, since he had old said his real name,
“My other name is Chameleon, which brings us nicely to your question.”
He put his hand onto a black car and smiled as his skin and clothes changed to the exact color of the car. He loved his powers, it was fun and he was a bastard to find when it came to hide and seek. The only part of his body that did not change was his eyes, so behind a completely black face a pair of bright red eyes peered at Melody. He then thought about showing her another one of his powers so he showed her and sent her a telepathic message,
I can perfectly change my skin and clothes to the color of anything I touch, and, as you can hear, I am also a telepath.

She watched him and nodded her head.
"Hmm, interesting. Well the camouflage thing is just like the Headmaster's ability here. But he's got more abilities like a chameleon, or a lizard. The tongue, can regrow limbs cling to any surface, and so forth."
She said with a shrug. No doubt Victor would take a person interest in Douglas. But when she heard his voice she raised an eyebrow. She didn't like anyone going into her mind, and found it really annoying.
"Ok, fair warning, stay out of my head, it's very rude."
She said before continuing on her way and examining things. A few students were over by the basketball court playing. One with blue skin took to the air and flew, dunking the ball which resulted in an argument.

Chameleon nodded when she mentioned the headmaster, it would be interesting to meet him, if his powers were like Douglas’. He wondered if he could teach him a trick or two about them, it would be cool if there were any ticks he could learn. Douglas knew how to throw a fist, but he was not that much of a fighter, so being able to get around without fighting would be a good way to go about it.
When she warned him about keeping out of his head he did not say anything a little embarrassed about the situation, but he did nod as to say sorry. He looked around when he heard the argument kick off and it actually made him cringe slightly. When the argument went on his pinched his nose and closed his eyes as to trying and fight back the sounds as it was giving him a bit of a headache. He shook his head as he got his hearing under control.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a packet of pain killers and a bottle of water. He took a couple and drained the water bottle. He looked back at Melody and smiled slightly before speaking,
“Sorry about that, loud sounds give me a bit of a headache, it’s to do with my hearing, you see I pick up the very vibrations in the air, so, if I concentrate enough the flapping of a moth’s wings are bit like someone whispering in my ear.”

Soon enough the argument got under control as they decided to play something else. She smiled and turned her attention back to Douglas.
"Wow, that has to suck. But it's still more interesting than my mutant power. I can see any instrument and know how to play it."
She said with a shrug. She didn't find it that interesting but oddly enough a lot of people did. She couldn't understand why though, it just seemed so...useless. Soon enough they arrived at the front door and she opened it with a smile.
'Melody!'
She heard a voice shout. Melody looked over at Doug quickly to apologize before turning to the girl that had called to her. She resembled a large dog essentially but the voice belonged to that of a 16 year old girl.
"I see you finally got your secondary mutation."
The girl grinned widely.
"We'll catch up later but right now I'm showing Doug around."
The girl nodded and walked off.
"Oh, and you're going to get asked about your powers a lot. It's kinda the easiest opening question around here."

Doug nodded; it did suck, well, most of the time. When he had a good amount of control over his hearing he could handle slightly elevated levels of noise, but when people shout it hurt him. It did have his advantages, but sometimes he could not remember what they were.
When the girl shouted he cringed slightly but managed to see the apologetic look on Melodies face. What did she have to be sorry for, it was not like she was the one shouting? He sighed and saw the dog girl coming towards them. He did not speak, trying his best to get his hearing under control. It was getting worse; the more and more loud sounds there were, whether it is at the same time or in succession it was harder to control it.
Once again he managed to get his hearing in as much balance as he could, just in time to hear the comment about people asking about his powers. He nodded, he figured as much, asking about powers was probably like asking where someone came from or how old they were to people here. He followed her; he was not speaking much mainly because he was concentrating on his hearing. Once he was dead sure his hearing was back to normal he sighed in relief,
“That’s better.”

"Have you tried meditation?"
She asked curiously as they walked. Sure she figured out he had really sensitive hearing, but didn't know if he'd tried anything other than will power and pain killers to help. Plus there was nothing wrong with asking that question, it was an honest question.
"This is the rec room and the other side is the library. I'm not entirely sure how they got all the books they did but some are really weird. Like the alien history of the Shi'ar and stuff like that."
She said shaking her head. As they walked Melody turned into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. She opened it and took a big drink before sighing a bit.
"Sorry, the whole transforming thing make me really thirsty."
She said with a shy smile.

Douglas looked at her when she asked about meditation. He had not tried it. He was new to his powers so all other forms other then will power and pain killers had been unexplored. Chameleon shook his head slightly before continuing to follow her further into the mansion, quite curious about this place.
When she mentioned the library he took note, he didn’t actually have a clue what or who the hell were the Shi'ar were, but he would look that up none the less. He followed her into the kitchen and watched her as she took a deep draft of his bottle of water. When she apologised about being thirsty he looked at her slightly oddly,
“No need to apologies about that Melody.”
((sorry it's so short.))

"Well yeah, anyways. There was one X-Man a while back who had powers kind of like yours. Except all his senses were cray strong. So eventually he learned meditation techniques and was able to control it so he didn't go insane or wasn't constantly in pain."
She said with a shrug before she resumed walking.
"Here are all out classrooms."
Given the time of the day all the doors were open as no one had class right now. However odds are there were still some in the rooms doing extra credit or talking with the teachers.
"Well, actually these are the more generic classrooms. The more interesting classes are downstairs."
