Billy had been standing in front of the life sized mirror in the CEO's office of Kord Industries. "God damnit, did it have to be today?" "I told you this would happen Marcus." The scarab said with a strangely mirthful tone in its usual monotone voice. "You know zoot, either help or just stay there." Billy said admonishing the scarab. He looked again at his reflection as he straightened out his blue brioni suit.
Billy had been stressing unusually so today because the one person he really hoped was just a rich guy was coming today. Thomas Wayne. Billy shuddered at the thought, after their meeting in Gotham Billy felt something off about the guy, seeing as after he had been shot as many times as it took to lose count but Zoot somehow kept count very easily, but he unnerved him. "I hate this stuff." Billy said as he kept looking in the mirror.

It had been a fifteen years since he had been in Hub City. The last time he was there he had been on a trip with his mother and sisters. It was a trip he didn’t really want to be on, but was forced to go on as his father and brothers were over in Europe stopping some threat from Ra’s Al Ghul. It turned out to be a better trip than he had expected and it allowed him to get more training in with Cassie.
This trip was different though. This time around, Thomas was here representing his company, and looking to finalize a deal with Kord Industries. Thomas decided to come alone for this trip, not bothering to bring his lawyers or assistants. No. This meeting was going to be between him and Marcus Williams, the man he had deduced was the new Blue Beetle and also theorized was the CEO of Kord Industries. Even though he had no proof of it, all the signs were there. He just had to dig a little deeper to get the proof and then he would lay it out before him.
As he walked through the building towards the CEO’s office, he found himself approached by a rather attractive brunette with a daily planner and PDA in hand. Looking the woman over, he gave her one of his charming smiles that made her blush.
“Umm...Mister Wayne. Mister Williams will be meeting you in the CEO’s office as our CEO is currently away and leaving Mister Williams in charge of brokering the deal between Kord Industries and Wayne Enterprises,”[/b] she said as she tried to avoid eye contract and hide her blushing.
“Then please, lead the way.”[/b]
Following her through the building, he noticed the looks on some of the people as he walked past them and could only imagine what was going through their head. Nobody knew that Thomas was approached by Kord Industries to help bail them out of the jam they were currently in and seeing Thomas probably made them wonder just how bad things were with the company. When they got to the office, she opened the door, and looked at Marcus.
“Mister Williams. Mister Wayne is here to see you,”[/b] she said before leaving.
Watching the young woman leave until the door had closed, he turned to Marcus finally, and made his way over to him with his hand outstretched. Smiling brightly, he turned to look at the door one more time briefly before looking back to Marcus.
“Nice help you have around here,”[/b] he said with a chuckle. “Good to see you again Marcus.”[/b]

Billy's head shot to look at his opening door and saw Felicity walking inside and inwardly shuddered at the sight of Thomas Wayne walking in right behind her. "Thank You Felicity, can you take a look at the Promethium Project please." She left, Thomas came over with an outstretched hand and Billy met with him with his hand and a firm shake.
The shake ended and Billy couldn't help but laugh at Thomas's remark, "I do what I can Thomas." Thomas walked back to his desk where a bottle of water sat and picked it up, "No need to be so formal Thomas, you can Call me Billy, I am just a proxy anyway." Billy said taking a quick sip from his bottle and looked back at him, "So need I ask what brings you here, or should we just get into this?"

“A proxy huh?”[/b] He asked with a smirk and a raised brow. “I’ve never seen a proxy or intern enjoy themselves so casually in their bosses office, wear brioni suits, or have such gorgeous assistants.”[/b]
Even if Thomas hadn’t been a master detective, his degree in business would have been more than enough to help him catch that Marcus was more than just an intern. He was somebody high in the food chain and Thomas had the sinking feeling that he was the mysterious CEO of Kord Industries.
“And we both know why I’m here Billy,”[/b] Thomas said as he strolled over to the desk.
Setting down a folder, he opened it up, and turned it towards Marcus. The papers contained everything needed to have Kord Industries signed over to Wayne Enterprises. Like the previous deal that was worked out between his father and Ted Kord, the papers outlined that Kord Industries would be a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises and would be allowed their independence, but were still under the control, rules, and protocols of Wayne Enterprises.
“Now as we know, only the CEO can sign these papers, but since we both know the truth about Kord Industries mysterious CEO then your signature will be good enough,”[/b] he said with a charming grin.

Billy couldn't help but chuckle when Thomas began naming off the things that noted that he wasn't an intern. "Dress for success, that's still a thing right Thomas? Oh, and she's not just an assistant, try a double major in engineering and physics. Honestly she could find a formula for cold fusion and still look like she just came off a shoot in Milan." Billy said with a smirk.
"Yes, of course I know why you're here, why else would the head of one of the biggest companies in the world come down to Hub City?" He said with a smile as Thomas placed down the folder and listened to Thomas call him out as Kord Industries CEO. "I was wondering if anyone would catch on as to who I was, and sure enough a Wayne was the one to catch it."
Billy walked around to his desk and signed the contracts. "Glad this could happen."

He chuckled when Marcus finally revealed that he was in fact Kord Industries CEO. It meant now that he could call off his team who was digging into Marcus’ past. Since Marcus had admitted the truth, he gained a lot of respect for him. And now that he owned the company, he wondered how much he could allow Marcus to know. It was obvious that Marcus was smart and bright and Thomas knew he would be a valuable asset, not only to the company but to his mission as the Batman.
“Welcome to the Wayne Enterprises family Billy,”[/b] he said as he held out his hand once more.
Now that business matters were over, there was another reason as to why Thomas had travelled alone. He had wanted to study Marcus more and determine whether or not he was trustworthy in knowing his identity as the Dark Knight or not. Even though he had tried to make Marcus believe that he wasn’t after ruining Maroni’s drug deal, he wasn’t sure if Marcus bought it. Not to mention the fact that the Scarab was also helping to guide him as well.
Let’s see how things go within the next few minutes before I come out and say anything. Let’s see just what this kid is made of and see just how smart he is.[/i]

Billy smirked as he took Thomas's hand and shook it. "It's an honor to be part of the legacy Thomas." He said in his most professional voice. Billy stood there for a second running an idea through his head and something flashed.
"Marcus...Are you sure this is a good idea?"
Do I ever have a bad idea? He asked, ...Don't answer that. But I'm doing this. "You know Thomas, since this is a subsidiary of your empire I think it's time you see what public service this company does as well." Billy said walking over to his desk and opening a hidden button hatch on the underside of his desk, "You might want to keep your hands on your sides." Billy said before pressing the button causing two holes in the floor to open under himself and Thomas.
Billy went through the ground and after a few moments landed in a large warehouse sized room where a giant blue mechanical beetle stood. "Why haven't I flown this thing before?"

So he’s going to show me who he really is. Wow. Talk about guts. The kid is taking a big risk or is he? Perhaps I wasn’t able to convince him after all and he believes that he is just showing a fellow hero his private hideout. I like it. Takes a lot of courage to do it.[/I]
When they appeared in the warehouse, Thomas looked around, and grinned. He heard about Ted’s private hideout and read about it in his father’s database, but never thought he would actually be standing in it. He had to admit that Marcus had cleaned it up nicely.
“Nice little spot you have here Blue Beetle,”[/b] Thomas said with a chuckle as he dug his hands into his pockets.
Walking around the warehouse, he found himself looking over the large blue mechanical beetle. He had remembered looking at the devices schematics as a kid before his father had told him to get back to his training.

Thomas landed and went to look at the Beetle as Billy was doing. "Glad you think so Batman." Billy said with a smirk as he turned his head with a smirk. "Oh, don't be surprised Tommy." Billy said turning and grabbing a cover and ynaking it revealing Ted's and Danile Garret's old costumes. "I admit I had help in figuring it out, but after a while it made sense. Ofcourse with you it must've taken...what a second to figure out who I was?"
Billy went over to a large computer screen and on a board in front of it pressed a few keys and the screen turned on with a blue beetle on it.

He chuckled when Marcus had called him Batman. The young man had confirmed that he had in fact not bought Thomas’ ruse that night, primarily thanks to the Scarab. Thomas should have known better but at least he knew better now.
“Oh I’m not surprised at all,”[/b] he said as he turned to Marcus with a grin. “The Scarab knew exactly who my father was as did Ted. It was only a matter of time before you figured out the truth or I told you, but I’m glad you figured it out. Shows that you and the Scarab are communicating well. That’s a good sign.”[/b]
When Marcus went over to the computer system, Thomas followed after. Looking over Marcus’ hardware he was surprised by how outdated that it was. From what he could surmise, Marcus hadn’t had much time to completely update all his equipment.
“You know, if you’re going to be a crime fighter then we need to get you some new hardware Billy. A lot of this stuff looks like it’s been here since Ted’s time.”[/b]

Billy smiled when Thomas decided to cave in and admitted he was Batman. "Communicating? Please this thing is basically like that bratty little brother who wants to help but will call you stupid behind your back." Billy said as he began tapping a few buttons and turning the lights on.
"Well you can't really blame me, I mean what with tryin' to find some actually good tech to borrow and designing my stuff does take time." He said looking over Ted's stuff, "Oh, this is all Ted's and Daniel's stuff anyway, mine's on the other side of the room, looks like shit really."

“You sure it’s wise insulting the organism that lives inside you that gives you all your powers?”[/b] He asked with a sly grin.
When Marcus had mentioned that his stuff was on the side of the of the room, Thomas started venturing over, and looked over the equipment. It was certainly newer than the other stuff in the warehouse, but still not nearly as sophisticated as his own equipment. The more he looked over it, it wasn’t as sophisticated as what was currently offered on the market through Wayne Enterprises.
“Wow. You need some serious help,”[/b] he said with a chuckle as he turned to face Marcus. “Because you’re new at this, I’m going to give you a couple freebies Billy. Once I get back to Gotham I’m going to ship you some new hardware. WayneTech’s top of the line equipment.”[/b]
Of course he left out that WayneTech’s top equipment still wasn’t nearly as sophisticated as the hardware that he had installed in the Batcave, but it was still miles ahead of what Marcus was using currently.

Billy shook his head talking about the scarab. "Me and him are cool. Besides he's been fritzy for a while." He said, "I mean it actually has what I'm guessing is a sense of Humor." Billy smirked when Thomas began talking about his gear. "That's putting it lightly Tommy." Billy said moving to the other side and looked at it.
"You know Tommy, I think I'm gonna have to decline the offer. I mean that's a big thing to have you help me out but...Ted didn't have Batman's gear and he made all his stuff...I want to live up to that." Billy said with a look of pride when talking about Ted.

He let out a small sigh of annoyance when Marcus had called him ‘Tommy’ again. The first time he had let it slip, but now it was getting annoying. Thomas was pretty uptight when it came to nicknames and when it came to being called ‘Tommy’ only several people were allowed to call him that.
“Yes that is true. But back then Kord Industries was in a better financial situation where money could go missing into the R&D department for Ted’s equipment. You don’t have that luxury. And as bright as you are Marcus, a Ted Kord you are not,”[/b] he said as he started looking over some more of the equipment. “And another thing. It’s either Tom, Thomas, or Mister Wayne.”[/b]
His tone was friendly, but serious enough to let Marcus know that he didn’t want it to happen again. At least not until Thomas had given him the okay to do so.

Billy could not help but smile when he heard Thomas talk about how he would need more resources and how Ted was something special. That honestly was an understatement. "He's correct about that Marcus." Billy let out a chuckle,
"I love how you and Zoot can always find ways to agree on how I'm not "up to par" at all." Billy said doing air quotes. He then walked over to the main computer console and began working. "But you know you two are right, I'm not Ted Kord and as much as I would like that, I'm me and I'm pretty damn smart on stuff, like how I was planning to "borrow" some of your stuff from your own R&D thread." Billy turned his head and flashed a smile to Thomas, "So I figured you knowing I was Blue Beetle would make things easier than me taking the stuff, there being an inverstigation and we being here like this and it would take longer for you to trust me."
Billy turned back to the computer and began typing opening a program showing a map of the city. "I may not be Ted but I'm damn smart."
