Slowly, Vanessa took the cylinder from him. She nodded and felt suddenly very guilty all over again. She knew what she was doing could not only make her loose her badge but get her tossed into jail. And since she didn't really have any rank it was even more likely that no one would even try to understand why she'd help an outlaw.
She slipped the little device into her pocket and with one last look watched to see what the Batman would do next. There was a small frown on her face and she mentally kicked herself for being such a girl. Heartbreak wasn't something a cop should feel while on the job... if this counted as a job.

He was quite pleased that she had taken the cylinder from him. He knew things were not going to be easy for her, and he didn’t mean just getting the files. The fact that he offered her a chance to confront her mother’s killer was going to be quite possibly the toughest thing she would ever have to go through. He also wondered if she would do the same thing he did and wondered if he would stop her from making the same mistake.
Can I stop her from making the same mistake I did? Do I have right to stop her? I know what it’s like to want vengeance and I know what it’s like to kill that person. I also know that it doesn’t stop the pain either and I also know the guilt that follows. I wouldn’t wish that upon anyone, but do I have a right to step in?[/I]
Pushing his thoughts aside, Batman brought his thoughts back to the present. “Thank you for helping me Vale. I know none of this can be easy for you and I promise that I’ll do everything I can to bring this killer to justice.”[/b][/i]
