What the hell am I doing here? Of all the damn foolish ideas I would have, this had to be one of them. Although there is always the chance that she won’t actually show either.[/I]
The Batman was wrapped up in his thoughts as he stood on the roof of the abandoned Ace Chemical Processing Plant. In a way it was kind of fitting that he had requested that she meet him at the abandoned plant of all places.
Checking his utility belt, he pulled out a small black case, and looked it over. He still couldn’t believe what he was doing and had his father and brothers been around to learn about this they would skin his behind with a rusty spoon. Looking up at the moon, he noticed that snow started falling from the night sky.
Placing the black box inside his belt once more, he made his way over to the ledge of the building. All that could be heard was the sound of crunching snow under the Batman’s footsteps as he walked. The whole industrial plant had been shut down for years and the area around it had been fenced off and since it was also Christmas Eve there were nobody working in the Industrial area of the city. So if Pandora showed, they would be alone to talk, but she had to show first.

Selena had debated for long hours when she got the invitation from Batman to meet her on the roof of the abandoned Ace Chemical Processing Plant on whether or not she would show. Once she found that she would show, she debated for long hours on whether she should go as Pandora or as Selena. Actually, the two of them got into a long, heated argument about the whole thing...
Selena sighed. The Bat asked us to meet him? Pandora asked her other half. Selena nodded. Yes he did, Pandy...and I think I'm going to meet him, she said, waiting for her other half's reply. Of course, it wasn't the best reaction known to man. WHAT?! NO WAY! I am going to meet with Batsy, Pandora argued. Selena shook her head. No. I am. End of story. He likes me better anyway. I don't throw myself at him and other heroes like some people, was Selena's response, which hushed her other half with ease.
So now Selena was approaching the rooftop of the Ace Chemical Processing Plant where she was supposed to meet Batman. She was wearing jeans and a sweater with a large coat over her and a purple and green scarf wrapped around her neck. She flipped onto the roof in a very Pandora-like way and looked around. Snow started to fall once again, as it usually did. She sighed gently, her breath coming out in small wisps of cloud as she shoved her mitten clad hands into the pocket of her coat. She hadn't spotted the Bat just yet, but she didn't mind. She would wait for a while before she would leave his present there and then leave. She looked down at her bag where the gift had been stuffed.

He had heard her climbing the ladder to the roof before he had actually seen her. Turning around to face the direction of the noise, he calmly made his way to the other side of the plant’s sign to see Pandora strolling across the roof in an outfit that seemed rather unusual for her to wear. The colors were there, but not the style.
“Selena or Pandora?”[/b][/I] He asked as he passed through the barrier of the sign.
He knew that they were two distinct personalities, especially after the night that he took her to see Leslie at the clinic. He had always figured that the files that Arkham had on her were partially incorrect as she had never displayed the symptoms during any of their encounters, but after their talk in the Batmobile he began to think that the doctors at Arkham actually knew what they were talking about.
“Either way. I’m surprised you came,”[/b][/I] he said with genuine shock as he stopped walking towards her.
Boy I hope I know what the hell I'm doing. This is crazy even by my standards.[/i]

Selena sighed a moment before hearing his voice. She didn't even jump as she turned around and looked at the Batman. When he asked whether she was Selena or Pandora, she smiled at him kindly. "I'm Selena. Pandora wanted to be here, but I refused... I had a feeling you wouldn't like seeing her," she said as he passed through the barrier of the sign. She tilted her head at him. She blinked a little at him as he approached her before she heard him speak to her. "Why are you surprised? Because I'm evil?" She asked as he stopped approaching her. She wondered if he really did believe she was evil and she wondered even more if he believed that she had some scheme for their meeting now, even though he was the one who called for the meeting.
After a moment of brief thought, Selena held up her hand to him to stop him from speaking. "I have something for you," she said as she pulled out the purple and green wrapped box from her bag. The flap fell back down as she turned and held it out to him. "Merry Christmas, Batsy," she said with a bright smile in his direction. She was being cheerful and happy, which wouldn't be strange to him, of course, but she knew that what would be strange would be that she had gotten him something for Christmas. Well, she hadn't gotten him anything, actually she had made him something. It was a cute little Batman plushie that she had hand made for him and it wasn't crudely made, either. It was the best creation that she had ever made in her life.

“Not at all. I’m surprised you came because I figured that you would have thought this was some kind of trap to arrest you and put you back into Arkham,”[/b][/I] he replied as he moved a little closer to her. He was about to open his mouth to say something else, but Selena had put up her hand to stop him from speaking. From underneath his cowl, he raised a brow as she handed him the purple and green box. Slowly, he reached out and grabbed the box. Looking it over in his hands, he looked at Pandora for a moment before looking back to the box. It seemed that Pandora had the same thing in mind that he did. “Well thank you Pan...Selena,”[/b][/I] he said, quickly correcting himself. Opening the box up, he grinned as he saw the homemade plushie. He had to admit that it was certainly well made and he was quite embarrassed and honored that she had taken the time to create the gift for him. “It’s cute,”[/b][/I] he said with a smile as he looked up at her. Reaching into his utility belt, he pulled out the slender black case that he had stored in there, and handed it to her. He wasn’t sure how she was going to react to it, nor was he sure why he had gotten it in the first place, but after what had just transpired it seemed kinda right. “I never got to really thank you for saving me at the auction that night. And since it’s Christmas, I figured now would be the best time to give you this.”[/b][/I] When she opened the box she would find a shiny amethyst necklace. A necklace that he hoped that she would like.

Selena giggled a little when he told her that he was surprised that she had come to see him. How cute. He thought you'd be afraid of him taking you back to Arkham, Pandora sneered inwardly, making Selena shove her back inside of her box. She shook her head. "No, I wasn't too worried about that," she said with a smile as he stepped closer. When he took the present from her, she smiled at him happily before he thanked her, calling her Selena. She blushed heavily, her smile turning from bright and happy to shy. She had never had someone thank her as Selena before, let alone Batman. "You're welcome," she said quietly before she watched him open up the box and look at the plushie. When he said that it was cute, she smiled happily. "Like you!" She responded happily.
Selena blinked as Batman reached into his utility belt and pulled out a slender black case. She tilted her head to the side and reached for the gift. She stood it slowly from his hands and looked down at it. She inspected the box a moment as he spoke to her. She looked up at him and smiled at him gently. "Well...you did save me...so...I figured I could return the favor..." She then looked back down at the box before she opened it. Her eyes widened and she squealed when she saw the necklace. "It's soooo pretty! And purple!" She squeaked as she looked down at it. Then, without thinking, she launched herself at him. She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him. "Thank you, Batsy!" She said happily before she let go of him and blushed darkly, moving away from him. "S-sorry..."

He was rather surprised when she had told him that she thought he was cute and his head nearly exploded as she launched herself at him and hugged him. He had no idea how to act so all he did was just stand there and blush slightly.
“You didn’t have to though. Especially after we’ve been through over the years. You could have left me there to be sold to the highest bidder and have me out of your life for good,”[/b][/I] he said as he looked down at the small stuffed version of him. “You really surprised me Selena and showed me that there is still hope for you yet and it’s a shame I won’t be there to help you see it through.”[/b][/I]
Turning away from her, he walked past the threshold of the large wooden letters to the ledge of the building. If only his father could have seen him now. Not only would his father lecture him on the thing, but he’d strip him of the mantle on the spot. So maybe it truly was for the best that he hang up the cape and cowl and turn Gotham over to JJ to look over.

Selena smiled at him a moment when she backed away from him, despite the blush that was still apparent on her cheeks. She shook her head. "Nope! You did something good for me, Batman and so I do something good for you," she responded, still grinning at him before he looked down at the small stuffed plushie. Selena smiled wider, glad that he liked it before he spoke once again. She tilted her head to the side, glad that she had surprised him. She smiled when he said that she had showed him that there was still hope for her yet, though her smile disappeared when he said that it was a shame that he wouldn't be here to help her. She grew more and more confused as he turned and began to walk away from her.
Quickly, Selena darted after him. She grabbed his arm, though gently as to show that she meant nothing hostile. "What do you mean, Batsie? Why are you leaving me?" She asked, confused as to what was going on. Did he intend that he was leaving her behind? That she wasn't important enough of a villain anymore? Perhaps she wasn't doing enough bad to hold his attention anymore. A thought dawned on her. Perhaps someone had taken her place with him just as Harley had taken her place with her father and just as Kaylee-Anne had taken her place with Hunter. Selena felt her eyes water as she realized that she may be once again replaced. She removed her hand from the Caped Crusader's arm and looked down at the snow covered roof. Perhaps she didn't want to know his answer.

He could see the mixture of emotions that simultaneously covered her face and the revelation that he was leaving and he actually felt remorseful for making her sad. Of course he wasn’t surprised when she didn’t understand and felt the way she did, he didn’t expect her to really. Lifting her head up to face him, he used his thumb to wipe away a tear that had started to fall from her eye.
“It’s not just you,”[/b][/I] he explained as he looked down at her. “I’m leaving everyone and everything behind. I’m hanging up the cape and cowl and I’m returning to a normal life.”[/b][/I]
Placing his hand back under his cape, his other hand gripped the small plushie tightly. Knowing know that Selena had a chance to redeem herself made it all somewhat rewarding in the end. The fact that he had been able to bring out the good in her was quite the accomplishment. And that he had actually done it was reassuring.
“I hope that in my absence you don’t give up on the good inside you Selena.”[/b][/i]
