"You don't have to thank me Davina, it's the least I can do."
He said with a smile. He noticed her blushing and was quite glad to see she was blushing. He enjoyed having that effect on women. But for some reason he enjoyed having that effect on Davina even more. There was just something about it that made him feel good. As he sat there he stared into her eyes, letting the silence envelope them, pretty much ignoring everyone else in the place. But soon he was startled out of it by the server.
'Hey Mr. Grayson. Good to see you're not alone tonight. What can I get you to drink?'
She asked before putting the menus down in front of them.
"I'll just take water as usual Barb. And as usual call me JJ, I don't like being called Mr. Grayson."
He said with a smile.

Davina couldn't hide the blush that captured her facial features as JJ spoke to her once again. She looked down at the table for a moment before looking back up at him. When she did, her eyes got caught in his. His beautiful hazel eyes were looking into her plain blue eyes and Davina's breath was taken away. She wasn't sure how long they sat there just staring at one another, looking into the other's eyes. Davina didn't really care either. She didn't mind just sitting there gazing into the most captivating hazel pools she had ever seen before. At least, until the waitress interrupted them. She spoke to JJ and Davina blushed darkly and picked up her menu. When JJ said that he wanted a water, Davina looked up at the waitress and smiled kindly at her. "The same for me, please," she said politely before she looked back down at her menu, trying to figure out what she wanted to eat.
Davina tried hard to keep her eyes on her menu, but they kept trailing back to JJ. He was an amazing guy and she knew that. He knew that, now that she thought about it. Despite JJ's somewhat arrogant attitude towards some people, Davina didn't take it as arrogance, she took it as confidence. JJ was a very confident man who knew what he wanted and was going to find a way to get it, no matter what it was. Of course, Davina knew how that was. Her grandfather, Slade Wilson was that way, but not in the same way that JJ was. JJ's ambitions were more towards saving the world instead of taking it over. Although Davina had a feeling that it didn't matter what JJ wanted or did, she would still be by his side as his friend...despite how she wished that they could be more. When Davina noticed she was staring, her eyes darted back to her menu.

The server smiled and walked away. No doubt Barb wasn't surprised by the fact that JJ wasn't alone. He liked coming here to eat. Although he also used it as a test. The gold diggers would get pissy because it wasn't a 5 star restaurant where the cheapest thing was 30 bucks. But he knew Davina wasn't like that. She was way more down to earth than that and his money didn't mean a thing to her. Everytime he glanced up he noticed her looking at him and smiled a bit. It seemed she couldn't keep her eyes off him just as he couldn't keep his eyes off her.
"I can't really recommend anything because it's all good."
He said with a shrug. He knew the menu by heart, which was why Barb didn't even bother bringing him one. Then again he usually got the same thing anyways.
"Anything catch your eye?"

Davina watched for a moment when the waiter walked away before her eyes went back to JJ. She couldn't help but find him to be the center of her attention. To her there was no one around. She loved being around him, but sometimes it pained her. She wanted nothing more than to tell him how she felt, but, for all she knew she was just his friend who he complimented. She had been in a situation like that before and it wasn't a very pleasant situation for her. It was painful. She truly liked the guy and he treated her like they were together, but she gave him free reign to do as he wished since they weren't together. Davina knew that JJ would know what she was thinking about seeing as he had helped her through that problem. Of course, she'd never bring it up.
When JJ spoke once more, Davina's eyes looked up at him. She smiled at him a little. "It's okay. I don't mind investigating," she teased with a smile before looking back down at her menu. When he asked if anything caught her eye, Davina resisted the urge to say him, but did not her head. "Yeah, I'm leaning towards the Cheeseburger with onion rings at the moment," she said with a smile before her stomach growled in agreement, making Davina giggle and blush somewhat. Davina's stomach making noises was normal, though she was still slightly embarrassed. "So what're you getting?" She asked, looking over at him from across the table as she closed her menu and put it down in front of her. She looked into his eyes, unable to help herself. She hadn't even noticed that a smile had slowly made it's way onto her face.

"Smartass."
He said with a slight laugh and shake of the head. Of course he liked her attitude, partially because she was just like him. But then again what did that say for him? Either way he wasn't concerned. What was wrong with liking a woman because she was a lot like you and had a lot in common? Nothing as far as he was concerned.
"Good choice. Their onion rings are delicious."
He said with a nod of the head and smile. He always got the same thing, to the point where the servers never even asked what he wanted. They all just assumed he'd be getting the same thing. And of course they were right.
"The same thing I always get. Large salad with apple vinaigrette and steak on top. Basically the perfect mixture for what we do."
He said with a smirk. He'd debated for a long time and even tried everything. Of course he rarely got anything fried or greasy. That was a once in a while type of thing. Of course if she wanted it he was fine with that. After all who was he to say what she should get? Even if they were dating, which he wanted to, he still had no right to choose for her. Why some women he went out with liked that he'd never understand.

Davina laughed lightly when JJ called her a smartass and nodded her head proudly before grinning at him. Within a few moments, Davina was hearing what JJ had ordered. She raised an eyebrow at him a moment when he started off with salad before hearing about the steak. She nodded her head in agreement. "That does sound like the perfect mixture," she said with a smile, not regretting her choice in her cheeseburger and onion rings. Davina had been eating healthy for a long, long time and it was time that she was able to eat whatever she wanted, especially since she was with JJ, not that that shouldn't matter of course. She wanted to kind of show him that she wasn't a prissy girl and that when she felt like it, she could down a burger and fries like anyone else.
After a while, Davina was looking at JJ once again. She was thinking about how handsome he looked in his dress suit and how beautiful his hazel eyes looked in comparison to her brown ones. She couldn't help but find him completely stunning. He was probably the most attractive man that Davina had ever seen and that said something since there were quite a few attractive men on the Avenger's team that most women said could rival JJ, but Davina didn't think so. She believed that JJ was probably the most attractive man not only on the team but in Gotham. Yes, Davina was probably going a little over the top, but she didn't really care. There was nothing wrong with thinking these thoughts about JJ. Then, she couldn't help but wonder if he thought the same thing about her. She hoped so, and if not, this would just be another one she couldn't have.

"That was my thought process."
He said with a smile and nod of his head. Then though they lapsed into a silence. Although it wasn't an awkward silence he usually encountered when out with women. She stared at him and he stared into her deep, beautiful eyes. The fact some men didn't find her attractive because of either her lineage or her mental issues made no sense at all to him. If anything he thought she was even hotter because of that. Sure he knew strong women, his mother included. But for some reason there was something about her that he really liked.
"I can't believe you're single."
He said with a smile.
"Must be my lucky day."
He said with a wink. Of course for all he knew she didn't feel that way about him at all. For all he knew she just saw him as her friend, leader and confidant. He hoped it was more than that but he'd have to find out. Worst case scenario she wasn't and things became awkward between them.

Davina smiled at him happily when he smiled back at her and nodded his head when he agreed with her statement. Then there was that beautiful, silence where they just...looked at each other. They actually seemed to be looking in to each other. They were gazing into each others' eyes, getting lost in the moment. It didn't seem to bother Davina though. She loved the silence and loved being lost in JJ's eyes. They were beautiful and even more so, she thought, when he was psychotic. Davina loved it when JJ was himself, no matter what that entailed. She enjoyed it when he was psychotic and when he was demanding. She loved it when he was in control of any situation. One thing that Davina didn't like though was JJ's ability to flirt constantly with other women. It sometimes pained Davina to see, especially when she saw that those other women were not anything like her. They were rich, snobby, prissy beautiful women that Davina could never be, not that she ever wanted to be them.
When JJ spoke about him not knowing why she was single, Davina blushed scarlet, unable to help herself. She waved her hand at him dismissively before he mentioned that it must be his lucky day. He winked at her and Davina blushed again. She smiled though and shook her head. "Stop flattering me, JJ. I'll end up being this red for forever," she commented, unable to help herself. "Plus, if you don't stop complimenting me, someone's going to think you like me," she said, her grin growing somewhat wider at the idea. She hadn't realized it either or she'd have done something about it, but while with JJ, Davina wasn't sure what was going on with her. Half of the time she couldn't control it anyway and she had mostly just given up on it, at least while they were together...alone. Anytime the rest of the team was around, Davina made sure to correct herself at every possible moment.

"What's wrong with that? Red's a good color for you. Besides, I think you're sexy when you blush."
He said with a smirk. Sure everyone knew about his almost amazing ability to flirt with any woman any where regardless of age, class, race, anything. Most female heroes, party goers and even some villains had been flirted with. But unlike the lame empty compliments he used everything he said to Davina was true. She did look sexy when she blushed.
"Now who said I didn't like you?"
He asked with a smirk. He wanted nothing more than for Davina to be his. The last time he felt he had an opportunity she was with someone, and that hurt him more than anything. Sure he could've easily kicked the guy's ass if not killed him but he couldn't bring himself to do it.
"I flirt with you constantly, I only train with you, aside from team practice, you're the only one whose seen my real side and one of the few who know all about me."
He said with a smirk. He felt it was pretty obvious, he just didn't know if she felt the same way. So he'd have to put it out there. Sure if she said no it could be awkward as hell but she had to know and he had to stop wondering.
"Davina I like you a lot, I always have. I actually had to hold myself back so I didn't kill any guy who seemed even remotely interested in you. A few of the male Avengers know how I feel, that's why some stay clear of you, because they have an idea of what I'm capable of."

Davina heard JJ's comment towards her blush and blushed harder. She looked down at the table cloth, picking at it a little before she heard JJ's words. She looked up at him, her eyes wide. She saw his smirk and felt indifferent. She knew that he had used that smirk on many ladies, but she wished to feel that she was different and as JJ continued to speak, she realized that, well, he thought she was. A small smile formed on Davina's face as she heard him talk about her. She blushed a little more and bit down on her bottom lip. She was sort of stunned though when he told her that he liked her a lot and always had. She blinked at him a moment. Was he the reason why so many men had always hardly spoken to her or hit on her? JJ was being an over protective crush behind her back? JJ actually liked her and perhaps wanted to be with her?
Once realization hit her, a slow, steady smile formed on Davina's face. She thought about the ways that she could tell JJ that she felt the same. She could always just come right out and tell him, but instead, she decided on something else. Davina instead leaned over the table and planted a soft kiss on JJ's lips. It was brief, very brief, but Davina felt like electricity ran through her body. She moved away from the kiss and sat back down in her seat, smiling at him as she bit down on her bottom lip. "I like you too, JJ...a lot. I've always liked you...everything about you. Yes, you're stunning and you're smart, but you're also confident and funny and sweet. I can never stand it when you flirt with other women, especially when they don't seem like they're close to like me. At your Charity Ball I almost lost it when I sat all those busty, rich, snobby girls around you. I wanted nothing more than to leave, but I stayed, hoping you'd come over to me..." She trailed off and looked back down at the table, her cheeks bright red.

As he waited for a response he got one he hadn't been expecting, a kiss. Naturally he'd been really hoping for one but hadn't had his hopes too high. Which for him was weird because he was arrogant, very arrogant. And he knew all women wanted him because, well they all did. A fact he'd proven several times in his young life.
"Well I'm glad we feel the same way. And for the record I wanted to get over to you. But all the women kept sending their daughters over to me. Apparently I'm one of the top eligible bachelors or something like that."
He said shaking his head.
"You were the only one I wanted to talk to though."
He said with a smile before reaching across the table and taking her hand. He gave it a gentle squeeze as he looked into her eyes. To think something was finally coming of his crush on her. The one woman he wanted but felt he couldn't get. He was shaken out of his world as he heard someone clear their throat and looked up to see Barb.
"About damn time. Be sure you keep him in line sweetheart."
She said with a smile before setting their plates down and walking away. JJ reluctantly let go of her hand and grabbed his fork.

Davina smiled at JJ softly, looking up at him after staring down at the tablecloth. While JJ was speaking, Davina was staring almost happily into his eyes. She couldn't help the smile that formed on her face when he told her that he had wanted to go over to her at his charity ball. He then explained why and told her that she was the only one he wanted to talk to. Davina smiled at him and blushed more, biting down on her bottom lip. She felt herself grow an even darker shade of red when he reached across the table and took her hand in his. He gently squeezed her hand and looked into her eyes, getting lost once again. Davina couldn't help but squeeze his hand back, gently of course as she got lost in his beautiful pools of hazel. She loved his eyes, she truly did.
When someone cleared their throat, Davina jumped and turned, looking to see that it was the waitress, Barb. She blushed and giggled a little, nodding her head when she spoke. "Of course. I mean, someone has to make sure that JJ doesn't do anything stupid," she joked before JJ let go of her hand. She brought her hand closer to her and then grabbed her burger with her free hands. She smiled at burger and dug in, not afraid of what was inside. She couldn't help but love the taste of her burger. She then squirted some ketchup onto her plate and dipped her onion rings into it. She grinned happily and giggled a little before taking a bit. "Oh my goodness, this is like heaven," she said with a smile, unable to help herself.

"Ya know, I am more than capable of looking after myself."
He said with a slight laugh. Barb just shook her head and walked off. He smiled a bit as he watched Davina dig into her burger. It was nice to eat with someone who wasn't a priss, like the usual women he went out with. JJ almost felt embarrassed for having a salad while she had a burger. But of course she had a much higher metabolism than he did so he had to be more careful with what he ate.
"I know, their food is delicious. Although most people don't know about it, kind of a shame."
He said with a shrug before digging into his salad. He loved their dressing and had even contemplated buying the diner just so he could get the recipe. However he knew the owner had no desire to sell and he respected that. Although he did wish that wasn't the case. He couldn't help but keep looking up at her as she ate happily, enjoying her food.
"See, would I steer ya wrong?"

"Sure you are, JJ. Sure you are," Davina teased, her eyes sparkling as she gazed at him. She continued to eat at her burger, loving the taste of everything. It had been a long time since she had had a decent burger and this was definitely the best burger she had ever eaten in her entire life. Sure, her dad was a good cook, but this was delicious. She wasn't sure what it was that made it so delicious, but she loved it anyway. Perhaps they put spices in the burger? Davina didn't know but she wanted to find out. This was delicious. She looked up at Jj when he spoke and she giggled. She waited until she swallowed her food and nodded. "I feel the urge to tell everyone I know to eat here," she said with a light laugh before taking a sip of her water. She then dug into her fries.
Even the fries were amazingly delicious. Perhaps there was some sort of seasoning that they put on them? Or maybe it was the ketchup that made them taste so delicious? Davina wasn't sure, but she was beginning to wonder if they drug the food to make it taste so good. When Davina heard JJ's words, she covered her mouth to laugh before finishing her food that was in her mouth. She sighed a little and took a drink of water before smiling at him. "Oh JJ, when have you ever steered me wrong?" She asked before thinking. She then grinned. "Oh yeah, I remember!" She said, thinking about the time they were training and he told her to go left and she got shot in the shoulder with an arrow from one of the programed archers. She was mad at himf or weeks after that.

"I have mentioned it to other people. But they take a look at the outside and assume it's nasty. People should never judge a book by it's cover."
He said with a smirk. He knew with the two of them that was doubly true. JJ himself looked like just another trust fund guy who'd made it work and lived like a play boy. But in reality he was a trained assassin who was the leader of the Avengers and only had eyes for one woman. Then you had Davina. Her story was almost the same as his. Trained killer, mentally unstable but looked like just another girl on the street.
"Ok that was one time. And excuse me for thinking the woman with super speed would be able to dodge a simple arrow."
He said with a raised eyebrow before taking another bite of his salad. He had known instantly what she meant. It had been a simple training exercise.
"Ya know there was more to that training exercise than met the eye Dav. I wanted to see if you'd do something without question even if it didn't seem right to you, and you did."
