"Well based on what I've heard in Crime Alley anything goes. So it me not being a goody goody might only buy me an extra day or so."
She said with a shrug. Of course everyone knew about Crime Alley. And it had that name for a reason. The mob controlled it, many villains resided there and so forth. Of course, it could help her to do an undercover job. To find out something about what people were planning. She'd have to run it by her leader, and the Batfamily. This was their city of course.
"Yeah, it's awkward...."
Of course she couldn't just say what the reason was. Namely because it would only cause more problems. And then JJ really would have it in for her. Not something she wanted. JJ was a little unbalanced, that was a fact. And getting him angry wouldn't help anything.
"But yeah...anyways. Enough about my awkward past."
She said shaking her head.
"There's things that are weird to talk about. I'm sure you know how it is."

Selena full out laughed when Melody spoke of Crime Alley. She had no idea what it was like in there. Sure, it was filled with robbers and the like but none of them were actually dangerous, well, to her. She wasn't really the person to mess with in Crime Alley in or out of her costume. She was known as a pretty good pick pocket when she wasn't dressed up as her other "personality" Pandora. Of course, not many people really associated her with her father anymore since she had "joined sides" with the heroes, but she had only done it because she enjoyed where she lived and didn't feel like dying. Plus, giving up wasn't really in her blood. So, why not do what she had to do? Sure, she could have played both sides but that was too risky and Selena wasn't really about that kind of risk.
The young villain tilted her head to the side a moment and then shrugged her shoulders. "I know what you mean, my dear. My past isn't exactly a walk through strawberry fields, if you know what I mean," she said, being completely honest. Selena was sick, twisted, and her past was just the same. She didn't mind it though. It made it the woman that she was today and she loved herself. "Where abouts are you heading anyway?" She asked as she nodded her head towards the white walk man that had lit up to show that they could now cross the street without being flattened, or thrown into the air, by a speeding car.

She shrugged as they began to cross the street. Now that the question had been posed Melody was all to well aware of how she had no idea where she was going, She didn't have any particular destination in mind.
"No clue really. I've just been wandering the city all day, stopping any place that might have live music and auditioning."
She opened her coat and reveal a small black case holding a flute while around her shoulder was a violin case. Her ability made music even easier, even though she always had enjoyed music. But she was even now trying some alien instruments but didn't like how they sounded.
"Of course it's tricky because, well, I can't sing to save my life."
She said giving an awkward laugh. She was beginning to like Selena. Selena accepted her and didn't judge her at all. And that was a rarity now a days. Sure things for her being a mutant are far easier than they were 20 plus years ago, but there were still the hold outs who hadn't accepted them.

Selena followed Melody along as they crossed the street and waited for her answer. She seemed to not be the delicate little flower that Selena once thought that she was, for now anyway. She knew what it was like to put on that facade of being tough when you really weren't, but perhaps Melody was actually a stronger girl than she thought. To Selena that itself would be very interesting indeed. She tilted her head to the side though when Melody spoke about not having a clue where she was going. Well that's comforting, she thought to herself before hearing the rest of what Melody said. She nodded. "I see...and how's that been working out for you?" She asked before cackling a bit too much like her father, but she couldn't help it. The man had raised her(for the most part) and trained her. She was going to be like him no matter what.
"Interesting choice of instruments," commented Selena as she looked at them after calming herself down from her Joker-like laugh. Her head then tilted to the side when she said she couldn't sing to save her life. "Ah, that itself makes it more difficult indeed. Unless, of course, you get the Wayne's or one of those families to hire you. Generally they just want music without vocals. So, you may get hired pretty quickly by them, if they like your style of music, anyway," she said with a shrug. At least that's what Selena guessed. Most of the rich people parties she had crashed never had vocalists with their music, just instruments with that...classical music vibe that Selena hated so much. Augh, she always wished to get the sound out of her ears after crashing one of those parties.

"Well considering the fact I'm still looking for a job is a good answer."
She said nodding her head as they walked. She liked that she'd found someone, who wasn't a hero as far as she could tell, in Gotham. Sure it wouldn't be that hard to get JJ or another member of the Bat-family to show her around. Although she'd probably have little problem getting one of them. But she's not dumb and knows they'd want something in return. Sure it probably wouldn't be anything sexual, even though with JJ that wouldn't be horrible. Sure she was younger but he was pretty good looking.
"Well, I only grabbed what was easiest to carry."
She leaned a bit closer, not knowing how the mutant vibe here was in Gotham and not wanting the passer byers to hear. But she felt Selena would understand.
"Ya see I'm a mutant with quite possibly the lamest power ever. All I have to do is see an instrument and I can play it. No clue what that's called though."
She said with a shrug before straightening up and continuing to walk on their way. And then Selena confirmed what she'd been suspecting.
"Yeah, I suppose so. Well, all I have to do is play a couple and then I'm in that circle. It's just a matter of finding said circle."

Selena laughed lightly at her response and shook her head a moment. This girl was quirky and interesting. Selena liked that. She figured it would be best if she didn't jump to conclusions like she had been doing since, well, Melody had sort of grown on her. Selena didn't get attached though. There was no point in that. If there was one thing Jack taught his daughter it was that people come and go and to never trust anyone who wasn't family and because of that, Selena didn't trust anyone. She wasn't one to go back on her father's word and she was indeed a daddy's girl, even if he was dead. In her mind the man would probably come back to haunt her sorry butt if he ever felt the need so she wouldn't disobey him even in death, which he would probably enjoy if he knew about it. Selena didn't really mind fully though, she loved loves her father.
A light laugh escaped Selena's lips once again when she said that she grabbed what was easiest to carry. She did blink though when she leaned closer. She wasn't sure how she felt about this before she heard her words. Selena's eyebrows went up behind her bangs. "Interesting indeed," she said with a small smile. "And I don't think that's the lamest power ever, mind you. I'm sure there are various other ones that are even more lame than yours...you just have yet to meet anyone that has it..." Selena tried to make her feel better or so she supposed. She wasn't quite sure but she did chuckle a little bit when she said that she'd need to get into the circle or whatever. "Yeah. It shouldn't be hard though. Just keep trying and never take no for an answer," she said, wagging her finger at her like a scolding mum.

"Well I haven't met them yet. So as far as I know, mine is the lamest. I can't use mine in battle like the others, or anything else like that. It sucks."
She remembered when she was younger, before she discovered her curse. How she hated, physically hated her powers. Everyone else had laser beams, or could fly or just something else that could actually be useful in a battle. But not Melody, nope, not her. She can play any instrument.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Maybe I'll try and put our past aside and give JJ a call. At the very least he could maybe help me get in touch with the Waynes or someone else who would want me to play."
She said with a shrug. As she walked she shook her head. Gotham was beginning to look more and more hopeless for her. But she'd keep on trying. It would work, it just had to.
"Damn, I feel like a complete horse's butt. Here I am going on about my troubles and I haven't let you say much about yourself."

Selena gazed at Melody with one eyebrow raised a moment before she giggled a little, unable to help herself. The Joker prodigy usually laughed and giggled at random times, as her father himself had done. Traits that she had learned to copy, to master in her lifetime such as his sick, twisted idea of the world and how once in a situation when people have to choose between themselves and others, they choose the others, greedy for their own lives. They wouldn't even think about the children in the other car or boat or predicament that they're in. All humans were greedy for their lives and that was one lesson that her father was trying to teach everyone before they decided to lock him away for a while...and then there were just things he did to play with Gotham's Bat. Which were always fun to watch him plane.
"It's worth a shot," the insane teenager told the mutant next to her as they walked down the street. She giggled, laughing somewhat at the girl's expression. She found it very interesting when people decided to censor themselves. "It's quite alright, I don't usually tell people about myself at all other than my name and that I'm currently jobless with no special talents," she said, shrugging her shoulders and lying somewhat. Sure, Melody was a nice girl and all, but she was a nice girl and Selena didn't usually tell her secret to people, especially nice people and especially girls. There was a better chance for Selena to control goons, if they were men who were easily intimidated and greedy for just about anything.

"Well still, it made me feel kinda bad."
She said with a shrug. She didn't think it was right to only talk about herself. Even if Selena didn't like talking about herself. Either way It didn't seem right. She thought about that as they walked, and why someone wouldn't actually want to talk about themselves. People are generally selfish, that was one thing she'd learned. And especially with her time as Ghost Rider it became more evident.
"But, have it your way. I mean if you don't want to who am I to force you to?"
She asked with a smile. They walked in relative silence for awhile, Melody looking for a topic that wasn't about one person or the other. She thought as she looked around, hoping for some sort of topic that could help them.
"So is Gotham really as bad as the papers make it out to be?"
She asked curiously. Over course she knew the answer. After all people knew about Gotham's Vengeance she was drown here.

Selena giggled a little before she dove forward and landed on her hands, doing a handstand while walking next to Melody. She had grown tired of walking on her feet. She smiled over at her as she walked along, not bothered by the odd looks that she was receiving from Gotham citizens. She was used to those and had no problems with them at all. She gazed over at Melody once more and nodded. "No offense, Mel, but you don't look like you could really force anyone into doing anything," she teased with a giggle as she pushed off of her hands and landed perfectly on her feet. She looked over at the new girl and giggled more, which was probably getting irritating, but Selena didn't really care. She never really cared what anyone thought at all, actually. That was just the way her father had raised her...you know for as long as he had known her. He was the only one who had attempted to raise her of course, her good for nothing biological parents treated her like a slave.
Melody's question about Gotham City really being that bad pulled Selena from her memories and thoughts. She looked at her a moment, her face like stone before she let out a loud, harsh laugh, much like her father would do on occasion. She bent forward, stumbling while she walked and wrapped her arms around her abdomen. She laughed for a good while before she calmed herself down, wiping tears from her eyes before she stood back up right and let out a sigh. She looked over at Melody and blinked. "Oh...that was a serious question?" She paused for effect. "Yes, Gotham is just as terrible as the rumors around here. Our city was not meant for normal people. You have to be some kind of crazy or some kind of brave to keep living in this town," she said honestly, not seeming to giggle. Her response had made her think of the Clown Prince of Crime.

"Don't judge a book by its cover Selena."
She said with a light smirk. Judging by this girl she could easily take her, well once she transformed of course. On her own she may be harder to take. And judging by the way she walks on her hands she's very acrobatic and therefore faster. Sure Melody could try but odds are Selena would take her out. She shook her head as Selena walked on her hands and laughed a bit.
She blushed lightly at Selena's laughter, not bad acting really.
"Well sometimes rumors aren't true. But I suppose in this case it is. Oh well, that's true of most places now a days. I mean those heroes try and all but I don't think it'll really work out that well for them. They have a lot of work to do."

Selena giggled more at Melody. "I'm just saying, no offense intended," she said, putting her hands up in defeat. She then sighed and gazed out. Didn't she know not to judge a book by it's cover. She had been "defeated" quite a few times in her day and so had her father, but many people didn't think that Selena was all that dangerous either, but she was. Deadly as they come, by not having any powers anyway. She had excellent marksmanship thanks to her old man and his teachings, but there were a few tricks that Selena had learned and perfected all on her own. She was extremely skilled and extremely dangerous, not that normal people ever challenged it of course. There were a few people here and there in Crime Alley who were knew who wanted to test her, see if she was bait or just some lost girl. Man, they had one rude awakening ahead of them, no doubt about it. No one would ever tell them though. That was their problem for not knowing and they'd learn it the hard way.
"Very true. Some rumors aren't true, like the one about the Joker many years ago that he was a lonely insane man who had no family. Man, people were shocked when that rumor was broken!" She said truthfully, knowing that she needed to act like she too had been shocked. "But then again, pretty much any rumor in Gotham City has logic behind it," she said with a nod before blinking when she spoke of the heroes. Selena made sure not to smile. "Yeah, I do believe there's more crime in Gotham City than the heroes can handle. Nightwing is pretty much the best hero that we have right now," she said with almost a sad sigh. She knew how Nightwing was when he fought people. He was fierce, stealthy, and above all else ruthless when it came to putting criminals and the like behind bars. Selena knew this since she had fought the young hero close up. Despite how he enjoyed flirting with most villains, he didn't seem to do that(as much) with the young female. Not that Selena really minded. Sure, he was an excellent fighter and his marksmanship made her weak the knees but, alas, she would never get to know a hero.

"Yeah, I heard something about that. Something along the lines of having a daughter or whatever with Harley Quinn, the only woman who could possibly match him for insanity."
She said with a shrug. She was getting pretty good about playing dumb. She knew about Joker's daughter, but some doubted if she actually was. Some thought she was just a girl claiming to be Joker's daughter. Of course Melody didn't think that was the case but wouldn't be too surprised if there was a good deal of truth to that. Either way Melody didn't know for sure. Only the Joker, Harley and their daughter knew the truth. But one day the truth would get out, once she was put in Arkham where the Joker spent so much time. Either way the truth would get out.
"Nightwing? The best? I don't know. I mean he looks good and all but I think all his time around villains has caused him to cross the line a time or twelve."
She said laughing a bit. But this wasn't her playing dumb act. She actually believed it would only be a matter of time before the heroes had to take Nightwing down. All she knew was that Pennance stare probably wouldn't do any good. Since all the people he fought weren't really innocent.
"I've actually heard a couple rumors that Nightwing might actually be a woman. I mean with the suit and all it wouldn't be that hard to think. Especially if he or she's as half as good at technology as the rest of the Gotham heroes were."

Selena's eyes flashed the moment Harley's name was mentioned. That psychotic...woman would never be her mother ever. The mere thought of it made Selena want to strangle Melody for even speaking those words but she knew she needed to stay calm and cool. She composed herself inwardly and nodded. "See, that too was a rumor, but easily dismissed. Harley Quinn meant nothing to the Joker, you could see it whenever they were together out in the open. He treated her like dirt, but alas she was devoted to him," she said with a simple shrug of her shoulders. Selena had to admit, she loved it when Harley Quinn did something wrong and her father went all psycho on her. It was the best part of living with them both. Now with only living with the Joker, the best part was the learning processes that she had to go through.
Selena gazed at Melody a moment as she spoke of Nightwing. Another loud laugh escaped her lips when she said that she heard rumors that Nightwing was a woman. She was unable to stop herself from laughing. Bird boy? A woman?! I think that's the best thing I've ever heard! She thought inwardly as she bubbled over with laughter. Once she calmed herself down, ignoring the stares of the various people around her, she sighed and regained her composure. "Oh, Melody, the things you come up with," she said with a sigh as she wiped a few stray tears from her eyes and leaned against a nearby brick wall. She pushed herself off once she was alright and sighed a little once more and began to walk beside Melody once again. This girl was almost too much.

"I'll just have to take your word on it. I never really watched them together I just tried to ignore the psychos like them."
She said with a shrug. This girl seemed to have a thing with the Joker. Sure she'd heard about Joker's daughter and that she was suspected to be in Gotham. Maybe Selena was her, or maybe she just knew a lot. Either way she knew a test. She laughed slightly at Selena's full on laughter but shrugged.
"Hey, like I said, it's just a rumor. I mean if you think about it it makes sense. Most female superheroes aren't taken seriously unless they fight crime in a bikini. So it's logical one would've found a way around that. But with that voice and that body, I really hope Nightwing's not a girl."
She said laughing a bit. Of course she knew a lot about Nightwing, and JJ was indeed attractive. But between his insanity and the fact he had a different girl almost every night meant that wasn't what she was going for.
"It's hard to think about how many villains have come out of Gotham, probably more than any other city. I was talking to some of my friends and we were discussing who was the best villain, if that even makes sense. They said the Joker but I just think he's the most famous. I'm actually torn between Two-Face and the Riddler. What about you?"
